Hi everyone,
I’ve been following this thread for quite a while from the outside. I didn’t create an account before because I was using it to get an idea of how IRCC is moving forward with cases, as I am a protected person myself and applied for PR in June 2024.
I also work at a non-profit organization providing settlement services, supporting refugees with their PR, travel documents, work permits, and other applications. It’s helpful for me to see different cases and get a sense of how things are progressing.
I’ve been reading that people who applied in 2024 have started receiving ECO PR 1, but honestly, I was a bit skeptical. However, based on my experience, I can now confirm this is happening. I know someone who applied for PR under the protected person category back in October 2024, and they received Portal 1 on April 27. They just responded to IRCC today, and I’ll keep you posted on how long the next steps take.
One important detail is that this person has three children overseas, who are currently going through the biometrics process in their home country. I’m not sure whether having dependents has influenced the application.
I wanted to share this to give a bit of hope, in a somewhat unpredictable way, things are moving
