Do I understand correctly that if I see this message (Background verification status has been updated to In progress), it means it's an enhanced/background check? Or does everyone receive such a message?

to me this sounds like your comprehensive security check has just started last month, I don't know what they were doing for 1 year. I hope I'm wrong though

Of course I need around 7-10k for lawyer to submit Mandamus, and that one as well take a lot of time.

Oh no, you need to pay a lawyers they dont work for free. The problem is this is only option to force IRCC to do move forward with your case.

I see. For some reason, I thought that you get your money back if your case is successful. Time to look for a reasonable lawyer...
