My first landing date was 2 April 2018. Since then I have lived in Canada for 399 days (I keep count). I am currently outside Canada setting up an online business which I will be able to run from Canada once it has 'taken off'. I calculate that my absolute last date to go back to Canada and remain in compliance of my RO is 7 May 2022. Obviously, I will not wait till the very last day and I will return on 1 April 2022, this will give me one month of wiggle room for emergency travel.

1. Are my calculations correct?
2. Can I be barred from re-entry on 1 April 2022 because I'm cutting it somewhat close?
3. For card renewal, I am assuming I will apply online on the 5th year anniversary of my first arrival which is 2 April 2023, correct?

1. You seem to know how to do the calcs, only you can take responsibility for them. It's just arithmetic.
2. If you are in compliance, you are in compliance. Even if out of compliance, you can't be 'barred from entry' - worst that would happen is being reported and the process of revoking your PR status begun (subject to appeal, etc). [Still not recommended of course.]
3. You should only apply when you are in compliance, and ideally with a buffer (say 30-90 days). You can apply before the card expires (up to nine months before is a number mentioned).

Your cutting-it-close approach is technically fine - but of course things do come up (family, urgent travel needs, etc), and that's how a pretty large percentage of RO compliance cases come up. It seems to me optimistic to believe that running a business in another country from Canada will require no more than 30 days travel in two years.

And note: cutting it close may have unintended consequences/complications, like not having a valid PR card for some period of time (eg if you apply only when you have your 730 days plus some buffer, and then it takes some months to get new PR card, you're without a card and at minimum any travel is going to be less convenient).
