AOR on the 8th of January, no updates yet after medicals on the 23rd of February visa office in Paris.
my husband is the primary applicant.

He has been called for a second interview for a post in Canada in the same company he's working. If ever he's hired, can we be eligible to apply for a TRV while waiting for the PR application to move?
Does that make us eligible to enter Canada as well despite the restrictions ongoing?

Dear Altruist,
I am in trouble/ Dilemma.
My AOR is 15th january, 2021.
As per GCMS, eligibility and security are not started. But Criminality, Info sharing, medicals, biometric are passed.
But today currency of CAD spiked and it creates lowering my settlement fund. ( From One account)
So in this point what should i do?
Please be infomred that i have additional ammounnnt which is government savings certificate. If they count this certificate / shanchay patro then total fund will not be effected by currency conversion. But if they dont count this certificate, my settlement fund is lackings almost 200CAD.

Hi @legalfalcon - i have a few questions. My gf is living in Canada since 2019 and is a PR holder. my application is in progress but as everyone, i too have come to terms with the fact that the timeline for that is uncertain. But i want to visit my gf in coming months since we haven't met in 2 years - i understand i am exempt from travel restrictions (Extended family).

My question is:

1. if i apply for visitor visa, would i need to update my EE profile or inform them of anything?
2. would applying create a problem/delay the process as it will add additional travel history to my profile.
3. how will i prove my relationship with my gf as we are not big picture takers and the few i had were in my phone that i lost in 2020.

Hi Serb!

I have used the extended family exemption (here) to travel to Canada to see my boyfriend, who's a Canadian citizen, from the UK. I visited December 2020 to March 2021.

There is a form you need to complete (here), which you and your girlfriend will sign a declaration.

This will also need to be notarised - we used a lawyer for this, you'll just need to have a meeting with them to verify your relationship. Examples of evidence are: chat logs, flights/reservations to see each other in your relationship, photos. Flight/accommodation reservations are an easy way to prove you have physically been in each others' presence.

I am going through the process again now as the exemption only lasts for 6 months. The exemption itself doesn't permit you to travel - you also need a valid visitor visa and a quarantine plan to be allowed to fly.

YEs, if you get a job offer, you can apply for a work permit and that will exempt the work permit holder. For the spouse and family of the WP holder, you will need a authorisation letter.

Hi @Serb11 - No problem at all!

Ah, if you need a TRV and it's taking 400+ days, then it's likely that that would take longer to process than the Covid exemption. The Covid exemption takes about 15 working days. I have an eTA, so I don't need a TRV.

But saying that... do you know if the TRV takes that long to process in "normal" times? Could it be that the average processing time is saying 400+ days because nobody has applied for one from your country, if nobody has been allowed to fly? The Canadian border shut 21st March 2020, which is roughly 400+ days...

I'm not sure what evidence you need for a TRV, but it is worth applying for the legal exemption and then attaching that as evidence to your TRV application?

@legalfalcon might be able to offer some ideas
