Study Permit Challenges for Nigerian Applicants

Goodday everyone. Please I need assistance on my refusal letter. My application was refused early this year for a Canadian study permit in the basis if this 4 reasons:
- I am not satisfied that you have truthfully answered all the questions asked of you
- I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay Based on the purpose of visit.
-I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay based on your personal assets and financial status
- Your proposed study is not reasonable In light of one or more: your qualifications, previous studies, level of establishment, language ability and or your future prospects and plans.
Please I need help to know how I can respond to each of their concerns. Also I gained admission to Memorial University in Newfoundland to study Computer science. I was denied for the winter semester but I plan to reapply before the start of next month so that I can meet up with the spring semester which begins early May.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no information to that effect on the cic website... It is certainly a possibility... Anyone wishing to apply should do so asap.

Helo Helga,

Your medical examination is part of the eligibility review process. So this is normal and you should not read any meaning into wait. Wait for a medical request, once you get that, then you know you are on track to getting an approval.

Hello omofar I’ve been rejected study visa twice here are the reasons.
First reason
I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPA, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

Second reason
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.

God has done it again. Another study permit approval, another happy client, took a while, but its out now. Time line below:

Application Submission: Nov 1st 2020
Biometrics Request Letter: Nov 3rd 2020
Request Letter for NSE (IELTS and mybankstatement): Dec 1st 2020
Submission of documented requests: Dec 25th 2020
Request Letter (proof of relationship between applicant and sponsor): Feb 25th 2021
Original Passport request: Mar 26th 2021
Visa Stamping: Awaiting

God always has a plan, if he's plan is for you to go to Canada, no VO can hold you back.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Management from Malaysia, and 5yrs work experience in Malaysia, and I currently work as a technology consultant in Malaysia. I got admission for a graduate certificate program (information technology infrastructure) in Canada.

My question:

• I was offered a job immediately after graduation, and my proof of funds is in a Malaysian bank account, not in Nigeria bank account. Would this affect the my home ties in the application as I have been in Malaysia for over 10yrs?
• I have an express entry profile, would this affect my application?

Thanks for visiting this thread. I was going to say you have a strong profile for the Express Entry, but I guess you already knew that.

I am aware of two people who's study permit applications were refused on the basis of intention to submit, because they already had an Express Entry profile submitted. I don't know if that is a general rule or they were just unlucky. I would suggest you either wait or you delete your application within the pool, perhaps that will help, I don't know.

As per living in a foreign country, that should not be an issue if you have legal right to live in that country, under the other hand, you have shown precedence of staying back in your host country after completing your studies, hence the VO may think you will do the same thing in Canada. So its a dicey situation.

Whatever option you decide to follow, I wish you the very best,

Congratulations!!

I would suggest you go to VFS @Lekki, they won't let you in. Just ask for the information and they will tell you. You will have to DHL your passport to the embassy.

The Canadian High Commission,
Visa Section,
Nairobi,
Kenya.

But realistically, it does not matter where you address it, they will still attend to your application. For all we know, if Kenya office is very busy, your application can be sent elsewhere like London, or China. So it really does not matter where you address it to.
