Nice for you to say this, but my airlines/airport staff are illiterate. Not sure what to do..
As I said you have 2 options
1) Try to convince them with official statements by the government of Canada which I have posted here. Maybe send them these docs and news articles.
2) But if you don't want to risk it then postpone your flight and keep trying to book.

If your flight is too close and you can't afford to postpone, then gather all the proofs that you tried. Also, use different phones and try all their numbers. Only congest the line if it is too urgent.

I got this new number where people have said they were able to connect and book within an hour. It is not posted on their website though. 1-877-542-8745

I am skeptical that it may be a scam. People have been able to pay the money and got some confirmation number. Can anyone verify this? I dug some info but no luck yet.

Note: Please don't book until verified. Posting here if anyone can verify this.

Oh yes. This is certainly allowed. If you are traveling together, you can share a room. Some hotels allow up to 4 people in fact.
Sorry, I meant for the quarantine time after the hotel
Edit: He said his friend booked his quarantine place after the hotel with another person that he not traveled with. So he is sharing the bathroom with another person in a 2 Bedroom Condo. I wanted to know if anybody else also did that because I was also planning on doing that

Again. If you are traveling together then you can share an AirBnb. However sharing any premises with someone else who ain't traveling with you ain't allowed.
He booked a 2 Bedroom Condo and is staying at a place with a shared bathroom with one other person that he didn't travel with. And he said when the officer asked him how he avoids contact if he's in the 2 Bedroom Condo he said he would sanitize deeply after every use. So he made it inside easily with having booked a shared accommodation

Well it's upon the officer I guess. Your friend was lucky. When I think of it, its actually difficult to actually convince that I will sanitize the bathroom; trust me.

This was the whole premise of the new quarantine measures where the government didn't trust incoming travellers quarantining themselves for 14 days. I think the officer erred in this. Don't do this because this is actually a potential risk. 11 days of using a bathroom and sanitizing after each and every use is very difficult. His guard will be down on 3rd day.

Can you share the link where you got this info from, if that’s okay with you? I can’t seem to find it anywhere

This is a facebook group where multiple people have posted this number and their booking success stories. I think they were stupid to just pay without verifying the number. It's an easy scam.

Personally, I will enter my German number into the ArriveCAN app and I'm letting the Canadian SIM card get shipped to my hotel's reception so I can edit the German number to Canadian. I just took a 25$ plan (incl. taxes around 28,xx) with 3 GB of mobile data. I will then upgrade to 7 or 10 GB once I'm out of quarantine. I did it with Rogers
That is a good deal. Would you please share the link to this plan?

So you are the officer now or what? It was MY friend and not his.
I've seen many posts in groups on facebook where i am that people are sharing an apartment but staying in in their own private room.
furthermore surveillance is anyways increased and who is so stupid not obeying to the rules of quarantine? you are coming to canada to obey to the rules. if somebody does not do that and hopefully they will be caught then it is their own fault.
also you are providing a negative test while getting on board to the plane. then upon arrival you do another test. if that is also negative and you stay the whole time in your place and only share a bathroom with a person who is barely out and also sanitizes there is no problem if you stay in your room.

watch here my man: For travellers without symptoms of COVID-19 returning to Canada by air - Canada.ca

  • can avoid contact with others who did not travel with you
  • can have a separate bedroom from those who did not travel with you
for his scenario he is avoiding contact and has a separate bedroom. It does not say he HAS TO avoid contact but it is obvious he will avoid it.

There is another point where you can argue about that is: will not stay in group living environment that includes sharing a small apartment with OTHERS.
Others mean more than 2 people. I do not see a problem if there is only one person.
but i guess you are the officer here.
AGAIN. He did not have any problems when he asked about the shared bathroom. and also he is providing TWO negative tests prior to getting into the apartment PLUS he is sanitizing deeply. it's just 11 days sanitizing. i do not see a problem with that unless one of them has diarrhea.

the only thing where i agree with you is that it is up to the officer if the plan is SUITABLE. but you make it look like it HAS TO BE a private bathroom which it nowhere says on the website. the plan needs to be suitable and nothing else

Only the bedroom and bathroom can't be shared, right? I don't think there's any issue with sharing kitchen and living room provided you follow the health protocols.

If it’s not on the government website it’s a scam. This is the problem with a government that uses 1-800 phone numbers for something that should be booked by secure website.

so in that case why should you be allowed to share kitchen and living room?
my friend booked a shared accomodation with ONE other person and they are using the same bathroom and are sanitizing after every use. there was absolutely zero problem for that to the officer. like you said you just need to follow the health protocols

I have no dog in this fight. If it's allowed it's allowed. If the rule allows this then yeah go ahead. I am just saying that there are potential risks in sharing. It's easy to say a person will sanitize everytime. Eventually his/her guard can be down, and then they might infect the other person. But in that case even the earlier 14 days quarantine was fine if trust was the only factor here.

About the Covid test at entry, you're aware that Covid is usually detected after 4-5 days of being infected. So negative Covid test doesn't mean the person is not infected. Hence the 2nd test is needed. Meanwhile if people are sharing bathrooms and kitchens and lose focus, they will infect the other person.

It is an ethical problem. Personaly I was fine with the 14 day quarantine as well. I would have followed it religiously. But there are many who didn't hence we are in this position.

Yeah I thought so. Waiting for those people who booked to land. This seems very sketchy.
