Hi, just curious about the confirmation email about application receipt that you received from BLS. Purolator tracking indicates my application was delivered but I did not receive any e-mail notification as such from BLS. Thanks.
Hi ! Checklist says For Mail In / Postal Applications(WE DO NOT ACCEPT TATKAAL PASSPORT APPLICATION BY POSTAL) . Did you walk in to submit ? Is the office open or taatkal is going through via mail in/ postal?

I did a walk-in passport renewal submission to HCI Ottawa through BLS Montreal on 22nd Dec.
Status until 8th Jan: Processing at High Commission
Status on 8th Jan: File number got generated, status changed to 'Passport application under review'
But, I haven't received an email for police verification until today (12th Jan).
Is this normal-is there usually some number of days b/w file number generation and receiving police verification email?
Or, do I have to be concerned and email HCI to check on this?

That is for non Covid times. But on the main BLS Canada website, inside the popup, you can find the following:
FOR TORONTO JURISDICTION
The processing time of the visa application is minimum 3-5 business days.
The tatkaal passport renewal is accepted through mail/post.
no i did NORMAL processing with NO address change from old passport therefore no police verification.
That's weird. I received BLS email the day they received it by Purolator...maybe there's a little delay, hold tight!

Hi everyone,
I am planning to send a postal application to BLS to renew my about-to-expire passport. I noticed that under the list of documents they are asking the applicant to send them original PR card and Driver's license. I was wondering if I read it wrong or its really a requirement?
This has probably been answered somewhere in the thread but couldn't find it.

I did a walk-in pp renewal application submission in Dec-'20 to HCI Ottawa. BLS just needs self-attested photocopies of PR card (front, back), the sheet given to you when you did 'first landing' in Canada after becoming PR (not sure if that is required, but I gave it). I submitted bank statement (with address) along with email from HCI. Hence, unsure abt requirement for driver's license (would think it would be similar-just self-attested photocopy).

Bank statements and credit card/mobile phone bills are enough for the proof of Canadian address? I am retaining the Indian address on my passport like in the old one as primary printing address.

Hi everyone!
Can anybody clarify this, please.. Can I submit Bank statements and credit card/mobile phone bills as Canadian address proof!
I don't want to mislead--> Please submit what they mention in the BLS checklist (province issued id with address, utility bill).
Bank and credit card, mobile statements are,in general,not accepted by BLS.
If you have issues with submitting local address proof, write to HCI Ottawa (cons.ottawa@mea.gov.in) explaining the situation and see what they say.
I did and got below reply from HCI:
You can retain the existing Address, for 'address to be printed' on the new Passport. You need not to submit any address proof for that.
For other address you can submit your Montreal address. for this you need to submit any of the prescribed address proof.
In case proper address proof is not available and you can submit your application for renewal of Passport, with the available proof of address viz., bank statements, lease paper, etc.
It may happen due to unavailability of proper address proof, you may get a Short Validity Passport (valid for 1-2 years only)."
BLS accepted bank statement but asked for the printout of the HCI email.
I also submitted a covering letter explaining this.
Whether you want to risk getting a 1/2 year passport by submitting bank st is entirely up to you, depending on your situation.
