Using foreign PhD as work experience

Urgent: Anyone here who did PhD from Europe, claimed points for that and successfully submitted the application - may I ask what documents you submitted other than reference letter, specifically did you also submit salary slips, IF yes, did you have them translated into English? Mine salary slips are in Danish, should I have them translated as well. I have reference letter and banks statements indicating my salary credit
I attached all my payslips, plus bank statement as a proof that salaries were actually received. No idea about the translation of payslips, but the official website of IRCC says if any of the documents come in a language other than English or French, they must be translated by a certified translator.

I did attach my scholarship letter as a proof of salary, but only to CEC experience, translated to English by the foundation. For foreign Phd experience, I only had my work experience letter showing how much I got paid and the hours.

Thanks for reply,
Now all set to apply. Just cannt see section to pay fees, will it popup after hitting "Sign"_

Urgent!
Hello,
Please can anyone answer this query as I am stuck at this point filling up my application? I am working at an institute in France as phd student. I am under fulltime employment contract with national research center here and I have reference letter, work contract to support my 2 year+ work experience claim in EE application. However I am also registered at the university as it is mandatory to defend and receive degree. Because of this yes I have a student status. But I am also a salaried employee and I pay taxes. My work experience is already added during the period from October 2018 to now. Do I also need to add a personal history column as ongoing "education activity" for the same period? I am not claiming any eduction points for phd because it is not finished yet.

People who have got their PR, could you please clarify if I have to put 2 activities "professional" and "education" during same time?

Hi! As a PhD student in the USA, we have the same thing (except it's part time employment). I put in my experience under NOC 4012 for work, and my unfinished degree for "Educational activity"

Sure, happy to help.

I used PhD to claim work experience and MSc for education. At the time of applying, I haven't been awarded the PhD yet (it takes about 6 month from thesis defence to degree award at my University) plus my CRS was more than enough to get me an ITA then.

I see your current CRS is 416 (which, in my humble opinion, is quite low to secure an ITA going by current trend) so I'll advice you evaluate your PhD (that gives you an extra 15 points) which will put you in the 430s. With some luck, you can get an ITA with that CRS score.

Also, I believe if your PhD is four years like mine, then you can equally max out on foreign work experience already without waiting till April.

Good luck

Hi,

I am at your situation when I am applying for EE-FSW. I have finished 2 yr+ as research assistant in France and I am only claiming points for this as work experience. I will not claiming any points for my PhD under education as it is not finished yet. So in my EE application from October 18 to now, this activity is written under work experience. Do I also have to add a column as ongoing "education activity" under personal history for the same tenure? Becaue I am employed fulltime with a contract with national research center, but I am also registered at university as phd student (no coursework/exam). Do I have to indentify this activity as work experience (claiming point for that) and also educational activity (no points) in personal history? Won't the time period be duplicate then? Thanks.

Thanks a lot. You put your doctoral educational activity in personal history, am I right? Did you have to provide any registration certificate at university for this? Because my employer and university are different entities.

At which stage you're right now?

My letter of employment shows that I am currently enrolled at the University as a PhD student, and I have not completed my degree. I have an ECA for my Master's from the same university, so that goes into educational activity as well. My employer is the Department of Chemistry at the University, and my educational activity is just the University.

I have an ITA, I am awaiting for my medical exam proof, I will be submitting the paperwork right after that in a couple of weeks.

Ok. I am also at the same stage. I was confused if duplicating the same tenure as two seperate inputs- "work" and "education" would be problematic. Seems like not. It is also written in my employer letter that I am registered at the university, but a fulltime research assistant.

Fingers crossed.

I'm providing a letter of explanation with explaining why I got my master's degree while being enrolled in a PhD program (this is how my university does it, but it's not as straighforward apparently from what I heard from other applicants)
Good luck!!!!!

My research assistantship experience was towards getting an academic degree (PhD), so I listed the same experience both as an educational activity and job experience and I already have my CoPR in hand. Therefore, it worked, and it makes perfect sense since the description for NOC 4012 explicitly states university registration as a requirement towards claiming job experience for this code, indicating that it will count both as education and job experience.

I used my Masters and PhD as proof of NOC 4012 (research assistant), getting 5 years of half-time experience on top of my 7y as a Clinical Psychologist. Bellow the letter I asked the Head of Department (my former advisor) to sign for me. No questions or further information was requested.

Apologies for the late reply, I am just seeing this now.

No, you do not need a separate "ongoing education activity" column. Yes, you are employed full time (and salaried) so IT IS work experience and you can claim points for it.

I hope that helps.

Hey i have the same case as i did my PHD from India and was working on scholarship and involved in research. I just want to confirm if your work experience gained during PHD has been considered for express entry pool point.
Hi, did you gave any updates for this please? Was your PhD under scholarship considered for work experience? I would be really thankful for your reply.

Yes I got approved (GCMS notes). Waiting for PPR/CoPR.
Hi

Thanks for your reply. So I can use PhD with a scholarship to show employment experience. Is that still valid If I took 4 courses? I do have a letter detailing my Roles and reponsibilities as per noc 402
