It was 30 credit hours for me and evaluated as 3 year diploma from WES. it does not matter how many credit hours it was
Hi Saqib, been searching the whole thread and found your comment specifically related to my question. At this point, VU has cancelled all PGD so people are searching for the best alternative. NED karachi has initiated their PGD BUT its total credit hours is 18 while VU and even AIOU is 30 credit hours. What was your experience with WES? did you have to mention anywhere the number of credit hours because NED's 18 raises question (it does comply with the 1 year duration). Please assist!! TIA

Dear, the VU diploma is now open for enrolment for BE degree holders, yes with 16 years of prior education. My form way rejected last week, but the eligibility just changed two days ago. I applied yesterday and mu admission has been provisionally confirmed.

Yeah this is the concern whether WES will give equivalence of 2 or more certificates for *DIPLOMA* for *POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA* they gave equivalence.

Aftab, WES won't give the equivalency for 2 or more certificate, it will just give you an individual ECA report for your Degree or Diploma or whatever you want them to assess. If your earlier degree is equivalent to more than 3 years deg. program and you get an equivalency of 1 year diploma for this VU diploma, you can claim scores for 2 certificates. It doesn't have to be a PG diploma, any diploma as long as its min duration is assessed as 1 year, will work.

Here are my two cents on this. We won't know until late next year or probably until 2022 whether "VU Diploma" will get us two or more certificates or to put it in another terms, recognised by WES. The reason for this is simple. No one before has opted for "VU Diploma" to increase their CRS points for Canadian Immigration. This only became the option when VU discontinued PGD this very year (2020). So I believe it is of no use to ask this question at this moment.
If you are someone like me who can not wait almost 2 years just to get confirmation on this, here is a better question,

The better question to ask would be, what other alternatives are there to VU PGD, that people had actually opted for before and had it verified from WES, IQAS etc.

I am still looking for this answer as I do not want to opt for a Master's Degree in Pakistan for the following reasons:
1 - The point difference in Master's Degree and Two or more certificates is not that significant in my opinion. (just 7 points difference)
2 - It is hard for people with permanent jobs to pursue Master's without quitting the job. (Trust me I have tried to juggle both for one semester)
3 - Even if you somehow do the 2 year Master's, you don't even know whether it will be recognised as equivalent to 2 years Canadian Master's. (a lot can change in 2 years; also I know people who got equivalency to Canadian Master's and others with SAME UNIVERSITY and SAME DEGREE not get it)
4 - It takes 2 freakin' years......

I think this is a very important discussion that will dictate the future of so many of us. So please if someone knows anything on this, or knows any similar thread with good answers please share it with us.

I have been going through the same situation you are in. I would recommend enrolling in Masters ASAP as there is no other option left. the more you wait and try to plan the more points you'll lose considering the age factor.

Okay, Ali I do get you, here is my take on the subject:

VU only changed the nomenclature from Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) to Diploma, the length of the course and the credits required along with the expected output remains the same.

The reason why they did that was not related to immigration or anything, it was actually because of the government policy shift. As you must be aware of the fact that HEC has opted for the policy to phase-out 2-year degree programs. People with 2 years of undergrad after attaining the PGD will be able to claim credits in the Master's program (2 years), Now as HEC has discontinued the 2-years undergrad degrees it makes sense to disallow the PGD, that's why it has to be changed from PGD to Diploma only.

As far as the ECA is concerned, it will fetch the same assessment as the previously denominated PGD.
Because the entry requirements are the same (14 years of education) and the length, credits, and duration are the same EXCEPT the name from PGD to D.

WES
Aftab, WES won't give the equivalency for 2 or more certificate, it will just give you an individual ECA report for your Degree or Diploma or whatever you want them to assess. If your earlier degree is equivalent to more than 3 years deg. program and you get an equivalency of 1 year diploma for this VU diploma, you can claim scores for 2 certificates. It doesn't have to be a PG diploma, any diploma as long as its min duration is assessed as 1 year, will work.
WES will give the expected ECA report, I have explained that above. WHY the change took place from PGD to Diploma only and how would it play out
