Hi everyone,

I have noticed from the forum that people who applied June, July, August are getting decisions while the ones who applied earlier, there is no answer.

I am talking about other countries of course as I did not see any decisions made for UAE except one who applied in January.

Do you think there is something we can do to get their attention? They didn't reply to my webform even

Hi Everyone

Anyone got approved recently for student permit and applied from UAE.

My permit is under review since 28 Feb and no update since then. I did medical test and I have already biometrics in the system, as I have visit visa from before. Typical processing duration from UAE is 5 weeks.

Thanks

Most of the people who got decisions are refusals. I applied for SP for my niece February 26 and have not heard anything other than medical passed, biometric validity letter and one push notification advising she cannot come to Canada now because of travel restrictions. She already had a visit visa before. I didn't know the status and have sent several web form enquiries without assistance or anything positive until I ordered the GCMS notes under ATIP Act. Typically, it would take 30 days to receive ATIP GCMS notes, but my request took 15 days and they sent me the report from where I found out it had been approved since April 15. validity and expiry dates everything noted there.

I guess they are deliberately withholding positive decisions because they don't want students to make any travel plans, since they have told everybody to prepare to study from home country. But to me, withholding decisions is nonsense. As Long as travel restrictions are in place, students will not just start travelling because they have a student visa. That they are delaying releasing your decision is likely because it is approved. If not, they would have released the decision since.

I would advise you to apply for your GCMS notes, if you have someone in Canada to make the application on your behalf, as it is only open to citizens, PRs or temporary residents currently in Canada. It's just $5 if made by any of these people I mentioned. However, there are some agents online, who can order it for you for $20, if you don't have anyone in Canada to order it for you. But you have to sign a consent form authorizing such individuals to obtain your personal information from IRCC. It is required under the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Act.

Many thanks for your reply and congratulations for her. At least she can start her study online.

I ordered GCMS notes twice, one in 4 June status was reveiw required and criminality Passed bio ..only 39 pages and no Eligibility section...orderd it again on 24 July and the status is the same and pages are 42, only they added my communication with them through the webform and nothing has changed.

Could you please advise in which section you found the approval so I can recheck again.

I am feeling hopeless at this point.

The last page of the report is usually where the officer's fairly detailed note would be. But on the first 5 pages, look for the headings on admissibility and eligibility. If you had a visa before the application and has visited Canada before and returned without overstaying your visa, they are likely to approve it.

I checked, nothing there except review is required, so either they didn't start or they know the decision without writing it.
Once again, many thanks...I really hope this is a positive sign.. next week is my last week before I have to apply for deferal and most probably, I will have to defer a full year due to my program regulations. I don't mind to start online, in fact it is much better for me but I need the approval at least so I will not waste my money in case it was rejected.

Congratulations to your niece! I also have a valid visa. Did she have her review of eligibility started at any point?

This is very interesting and I suspect, given my work background, that the majority of applications in limbo have been approved months ago but that IRCC have been told not to officially approve any study permits. I shall order my daughter's notes now.
