Like I mentioned before, every time I call IRCC or send a webform they give different answers and the webforms clearly look like different "cut and paste" responses pasted together. Once when I rang them, they said to me the same thing about "not meeting the eligibility criteria" but she said it was the eligibility criteria for "quick" OWP approval, not eligibility criteria for the OWP in general. In other words, I didn't qualify to get the OWP within the 4-5month speedy window, but the application is still in and will get processed after AIP. Is this what you mean, or did you get an official email/letter saying the OWP has been denied?
For quick open work permit approval, my OWP hasn't been denied, they said I don't qualify for the 4/5 months thing, but I should get my approval once we are approved in principle

Sucks though that AIP doesn’t come until 1-2 months before the PR approval! Which is another 5 months or so from now. If I would’ve Known that I would’ve saved my money and not bothered applying for the OWP. What’s the point having an OWP when you get your PR the next month anyway But the most frustrating thing is that we are being denied even when we meet all the eligibility and when we ask for clarification they ignore us.

Hi, jus curious pls share about ur case. Is ur spouse/sponsor is PR or citizen ? Working full time or part time ? How long u both been married ? Let’s see anything to do with sponsor’s back ground.
  • Sponsor is spouse and is Canadian citizen.
  • Spouse works full time (for the government, actually).
  • Been married since July 2019.

On another note, taking a break from OWP approvals discussion for one second...

Has anyone received any communication that their sponsor has been approved or a request for medical?

Asking because I assumed sponsor approval was sometime (1, 2 months?) after AOR. We have not heard anything about this step. If sponsor approval is the first step in determining PR eligibility, should that have happened by now? I'm about 5.5 months in the 12-month process.

As for medical, it seems that many people in the October Inland thread were given directions for medical and then completed their testing/appointments shortly before self-isolation and physicians started closing. I have heard nothing.

I'm trying not to worry too much, and understand that every application moves at a different pace, and COVID-19 is really putting a slow down on everything, but I just feel like my application(s) are moving slower than the rest of my group's paperwork.

RIGHT?!? $255 to be approved to work for maybe 2 months? I assume that might be how long it takes me to find a job!

And without that "early" OWP approval, now I have to apply to Extend My Stay in Canada As A Visitor (IMM 5708e), another $100.

You don't have to extend your stay. Technically the PR application can still be approved and go ahead even without it. You are still on what's called "Implied Status" as long as your OWP is still in review. You would only be out of status if they formally rejected/denied the OWP which they haven't...they've just delayed it until AIP.

This is true, but according to some research in other threads under the Spousal Sponsorship message board it is advised to apply for a visitor extension in case the PR and/or OWP app is returned. Changes of being returned are slim, but the second they're back to me and out of IRCC processing, if I'm not in status it would be an issue.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! May I ask. when you say "Application received: 25 NOV 2019", does that refer to your PR application or OWP?
I think it should be PR application. I did not link my application to my account as I have a representative. But my representative had sent the acknowledgement email which was received on 25th Nov. It should the the one for PR.

We’re all in this together no reason to shame someone because they’re from another month of applicants!
Thanks @danielm99, I hadn't even seen this message!

@axebuddy - My application was received October 30th, so I'm on the October/November 2019 cusp. And I've discovered that my apps have more in common at this point with the November submissions.

Hi, most of us applied for visit visa and after landing applied inland PR + OWP but I feel when you apply for PR + OWP what’s your status? Are you with in 6 months of visit period ? But really not sure why they delay for some apps.
Have some questions about pr app as preparing mine did you submit police certificate thanks, and the forms did you submit a copy as I read somewhere that said they wanted a photocopy of signature so does one have to photocopy the page that has signature thanks u
