Could you pls ask ur frend exactly what process did they follow for extension. He got extension from his hime country embassy or ircc Canada? And in how much time did they give extension.Sorry for so many q.But as u know we r too stressed.Thanks.
Same process that is being listed now. Raise webform when you know you cannot/will-not travel to inform them.

In her case since it was before all the pandemic, they replied to her and told her to raise webform when you are ready to travel and we will tell you process to redo medicals and PCC and resubmit COPR + passport, thats it. She is in the US, got extension from IRCC Canada.

I know it is a stressful time for us all, and we would love an individual response to our webforms or a blanket statement from IRCC , but it seems like we all have to trust that the process will work out for now.

I called last week and CBSA said the same thing to me. Although it seems like the IRCC and the CBSA aren't on the same page... IRCC has yet to contact me back about the CBSA stating I would not be allowed in as this is non-essential, not a priority and can be extended.
I called yesterday (Friday) and was told that as long as I follow the self isolation guidelines, I am welcome to land via airport or land border. She also told me explicitly that flagpoling is not allowed and as long as I cross land border from US side its fine.

I think there is still some discrepancy/confusion coming from individual agents and what information they have been given and that is unfortunate :(
But on the plus side I have not heard (here or on facebook groups) anyone who met the exemption criteria and went to land and was denied so that's good.

Hello Everyone
I have two questions and I appreciate your help (I have a copr expiring 1st May)
  • I want to raise a web form, the visa office on my stamped visa is London while my current location is UAE. Which visa office should I select when raising a web form? London or Abu Dhabi?
  • Can I travel on 1st May, expiry date of my visa?
Thank you

1. Your VO is London, so raise for London VO. Also, the Abu Dhabi is only a consulate which also processes visitors visa etc - but NOT PR visas for UAE residents. Has that changed?

Ah sorry for your second question - am not so sure. Hazarding a guess is not good but if it was me I would always target to LAND with a minimum of one clear day in hand. Why? - airlines and flight schedules can and do dirupt often. I would try to avoid risking a cancelled flight or delayed connection being the cause of shattered dreams after years of immigration hard work.
In any case date of expiry would mean being with the immigration officer before 11:59PM - perhaps?! (please do not take my word for it, though).

Best wishes and travel safe!

Hello Everyone,
Sharing my experience here just in case it helps someone.
I managed to complete my landing at Toronto today. Although CoPRs are exempt from travel restrictions, while checking in at the counter, the agent had to call the ETA Helpdesk to check if I could board the plane! They’re checking all visas on case by case basis and after they arrive at the conclusion that it’s essential only then will they issue your boarding pass. 2 people had to return since they’re travel was deemed as non essential by the ETA agent (not sure about the exact details of these passengers though).
There were hardly 10 to 12 people on board and hence could maintain the distance between passengers. Finished my immigration and customs in less than 10 minutes. The officer did ask me how was I going to quarantine myself and if I understand that I cannot step out for any reason and as to how was I going to manage with the essentials. The 14 day isolation is mandatory! No soft landing allowed.
Let me know if you have any questions!

From US. I’m an Indian citizen though!
Thanks for sharing another data-point very useful!
Do you plan to return to the US after the self isolation period and what plans for groceries etc while isolating?

Yes I intend to! But not sure what it’s going to be like in 2 weeks! The news reports hint towards a complete lockdown in both US and Canada. Only time will tell.
Received an emergency alert on the phone this evening asking people to stay indoors - not sure if that’s a routine or meant to be something.
My bnb host is really kind and offered to help me out by getting groceries to my door!

Congratulations on your successful landing, you mentioned no sifting allowed. Do you mean no soft landing is allowed at all or the 14 days observation must be observed even if soft landing? Thanks

Thank you. Well, I was explicitly asked twice before my boarding pass was issued if I was going to self isolate for 14 days in Canada. Again the immigration officer in Canada told me that it’s mandatory to self isolate. They even handed out leaflets stating isolation is mandatory after arrival and failure to comply will lead to penalties.

No answer to your question? I am also planning to use a taxi or ride-hailing services like uber to head to the place we will stay locked for the 14 days.
I've read it somewhere in cic site that if you are symptomatic you cannot use taxi/uber,you have to use a private vehicle. If you dont have any symptoms, then you can use taxi
