I have completed my PGD last month, waiting for the final result and diploma, might take some time due to the current situation. I am into Full Stack it is of 32 credits. The course content is great. Though had to put lot of effort in completing assignments.
Now going to continue with MSc. Hope PGD gets evaluated by WES as expected.
Anybody needed a referral, reach me.

@pavankarthik : Congrats on completing the PGD, it's definitely an intense program! Please do update this thread once you have the response from WES.

As for credits the data science PGD has 36 credits so there's a slight possibility that WES may recognize these courses differently i.e. if they care about the extra 4 credits.

Hey Guys,

I have a Bachelor's of Computer Applications from IGNOU (3 Years). It showed up as a Community College Diploma in WES. So, in order to get more points for education, I am planning to do the Master's Degree in AI and ML offered by UpGrad. Now, what if I only get my Master's Degree assessed? Will WES still ask for my Bachelor's Degree or will it give me a Canadian Equivalence for a Master's. Please help me in clearing this query.

Thanks,
Nainoor

@Nainoor_first : It is a must to submit your bachelor's degree along with your master's. So, it's best for you to simply add the master's to your existing WES report. BTW, how many 'years' was the community college diploma evaluated to - 3 years?

Upgrad is a paid diploma mill. Wes will never evaluate it as masters. It will be evaluated as 1 yr PG diploma at best.

Hey @kashifsami ,

Thanks for your prompt and swift reply. Alright, I shall submit both my Master's and Bachelor's to WES. Hopefully, I get full equivalency of my Master's Degree. Yes, the community college diploma was evaluated to 3 years.

Thanks & Regards,
Nainoor

Thanks @navinball for your reply but my question is regarding the Master's Degree being offered by UpGrad and LJMU. I wanted to know if my Educational Equivalency would be of a Master's or not considering that I have a three year degree.

Thanks,
Nainoor

Did you already complete upGrad M.Sc from LJMU?
Or going to join for it.
If am not wrong, it will be considered as Masters as it is UK university and is of 180 credits, which as per UK standards matches with Masters.

But be remembered for sure, it takes at least 24 months to enroll, complete and get the certificates, and then we never know how much time WES is going to take.

Same confusion guys, I am in a fix whether I should go for the IIITB+LJMU masters with upgrad or not. I want to understand once you get the degree and you sent it for WES assessment , they will ask for transcript, now who will send the transcript, will it be IIITB or LJMU(If I just send the LJMU DEGREE ). I dont think LJMU will send any transcript as they have not taken any examination in the course . What is your say in this guys?
Are you sure that you can wait for another 2 years, anyhow you will get your diploma in ~ 15 months of the course (I mean the certificate) and it is an intense program, you have to spend 20 hrs a week if you were not already into same field to get good results. There’s minimum GPA restrictions to award the diploma. At least 1.0 in each and not less than 2.4 out of 4.0 CGPA

I agree with Pavan. My initial goal was to do Masters (because of the research component) but I am 3 months away from completing PGD and am likely not continuing with MS for following reasons:
  1. It'll only add 7 points but only after 6-7 months thesis + 4-5 months for transcript/WES process. The PGD gets me 32 points and if you max IELTS and perhaps learn French, you're likely to get a lot more than 7 points much quicker.
  2. I feel like I need a break and do some real-world projects to improve my chances of getting a data science role which will be more valuable in the job market than the degree itself.
Hope this is helpful.

Somebody who can score a CLB 10 Shouldn’t be worried about Masters, as PGD with Bachelors will give them enough points in CRS. I am not considering about age factor.

But guys,
My suggestion would be, If you are really interested to add Masters to your studies, you can enrol for it and not just for improving CRS.(considering the time and money to be invested no offence)

But am going ahead to do MSc that is going to start in coming months, as am waiting for issuance of my PGD in Fullstack

Hey @kashifsami,

Thanks for the reply. Your input is quite valuable to someone like me who is on the onset of the course. I am still in my final semester of BCA and was planning to start this course in June. According to you, is this course worth the time and resources? I assume that you have not been placed in a company yet.

Thanks & Regards,
Nainoor

Do you have work experience in any of the NOCs listed in Express Entry, otherwise even scoring high in IELTS and adding up Bachelors and Masters together will fetch you less than 430, which is quite low these days for the EE draws

and you said WES provided you equivalency, and still you are in last semester, how is that possible for WES to give you report for the study in progress.

Hey @pavankarthik,

Yes, I have a work experience of one and a half years as a Web Developer. I am doing my Bachelor's in an Open University so will my work experience be counted?

I used the free tool for WES Canada Degree Equivalency to calculate my Equivalency.

Thanks & Regards,
Nainoor
