what I have heard and discussed with people. it is taking more than 40 days just for an interview. God knows how many days they will take.
Sounds strange! What's the point of having SDS for Pakistan then? After biometrics, normal processing time is 3 weeks, either a candidate gets PPR, rejection or call for interview.

Let's hope for the best!

Firstly, you should secure admission in your desired program. You would require your past educational credentials (transcripts and degree certificates), IELTS academic (with no band less than 6.0), statement of purpose (program-driven) and references from your professors or supervisor (if you have substantial work experience).

Once, you will secure an admission then you would be able to submit an application for a study permit for yourself and open a work permit for your husband.

For submitting an application via SDS, you should have your Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institute (DLI), IELTS academic TRF, Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from Scotia or Habib Canadian Bank, proof of full tuition fees paid for the 1st year of your program, upfront medical examination and police clearance certificate (for both of you), completed application forms and statement of purpose (or study plan).
Thank you, Sadaf this is so helpful.

Wow, so my SCB staff is terrible. After explaining the GIC rule again and again and showing them the state bank remittance clause, all I got in the end was a patronizing passive aggressive threat that if I insisted on GIC (dude insisted that he/his bank does this stuff all the time so they obviously know better then me and also kept saying GICKwhich shows how much he did know about SDS, I kept correcting him) without foreign currency account ,they would send my application to state bank and who knows how long state bank will take, even upto 3 months.. God save us from over important bank staff.. lol

Anyway, I have some time before I need to tackle this side of the process, Good luck everyone.

Clifton Karachi.

Yea, will visit another branch of SCB tmrw, otherwise will try some other bank all together.

Also, unrelated to GIC but has anyone started getting LOA from Durham yet?
Visit the branch at Shahrah Faisal, I have opened my foreign currency account over there and have processed my transaction flawlessly. RM and BM over there are quite knowledgeable and have facilitated my case well.

Visit the Nursery one and meet with Ms. Shafaq. She is the RM over there and knows the entire process well. You can give her my reference (Saad Arif). Also, please refer your payment as me to me transfer for living expenses to be covered during the duration of your studies. Don't refer to it as GIC since most of the banking officers consider it as an investment and pose additional checks over the payment.

1st open your FCY account and deposit USD into your account. Then, proceed with the transaction into your Canadian bank account.

Yes.

You need to have your source of income and tax returns for opening such account. If you aren't then you can open a joint account with any of your parents. Being a filler, proven source of income and funds in your PKR account (in any bank) are crucial in this entire process.
