I am a 22-year-old Pakistani citizen who applied for a Canadian study permit on July 17, 2026, for the September 2026 intake, to pursue a thesis-based Master of Science in Biotechnology (Chemical Biotechnology specialization) at Brock University, a public Designated Learning Institution.
I hold a BS (Hons.) in Biotechnology from a public Pakistani university with a CGPA of 3.01/4.00, graduating in 2025. I achieved an IELTS Academic score of 7.5 (Listening 8.0, Reading 8.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 6.0). Since November 2025, I have been working as a Research Assistant at Pakistan's premier national research laboratory, gaining valuable experience in fermentation optimization, molecular biology, and CRISPR-based genome editing.
A tenured Professor and Director of the Centre for Biotechnology at Brock University has confirmed thesis supervision and provided a strong Letter of Support for my application. I have secured a confirmed funding package of CAD $30,548 per year from Brock University, which covers my tuition and fees and is renewable for the second year. I have also deposited a CAD $23,000 CIBC Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) for living expenses, which exceeds IRCC's minimum requirement of CAD $22,895. The non-refundable tuition deposit of CAD $1,000 has been paid.
My family's total net worth is independently certified by a Chartered Accountant at PKR 106.8 million (~CAD $540,000), comprising three commercial properties with PBA-approved valuations totaling PKR 92.6 million, gold (14 tolas valued at PKR 6 million), a bank balance of PKR 1.74 million, and other movable assets. Our combined family annual income is PKR 9.48 million (~CAD $48,000) from rental properties and government pensions.
Regarding my bank statement showing PKR 1.74 million over a one-month period, I understand this may raise questions. However, rental income from our commercial properties is received in cash, which is standard practice in Pakistan, and is thoroughly documented through registered tenancy agreements and rent receipts from past few months. My GIC covers my living expenses, Brock University covers my tuition and additionally contribute to some of living expense.
My strong ties to Pakistan include my widowed mother (59), who relies on me for care as the primary responsible son, two siblings residing in Pakistan, income-generating property I own, and a clear career plan to return to Pakistan's pharmaceutical R&D sector after completing my studies.
I completed my biometrics on July 21, 2026, and underwent an upfront medical examination before applying. My application is fully documented with notarized translations, Chartered Accountant-certified net worth, PBA-approved property valuations, land revenue records, tenancy agreements, rent receipts, pension payment orders, and my father's death certificate. As a master's student at a public institution, I am exempt from the Provincial Attestation Letter requirement.
I am respectfully seeking honest feedback and suggestions on my application.
