Hi guys, amazing discussions going on around here. Quite informative! However, I’m a newbie here and a Canadian PR residing abroad (work reasons).

I want to initiate outland spousal PR, however, just want some info on a few things:-
1. How early can I/my spouse initiate the application after I land in Canada? Can I do it immediately? (I have already done my initial landing in Aug 2018)
2. What are the factors that IRCC takes into account to determine sponsor eligibility?
When I move there, I won’t have any job/sources of income and will rely solely on my savings that I shall bring with me to Canada. How much funds would be sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
1. You can apply as soon as you come to Canada.

2. Sponsor eligibility requirements are listed on the website.

You can apply without a job as long as you can show a solid plan of how you will support yourselves in Canada without welfare.

Hi everyone, please help on my case. I'm in Canada on work permit, and now I'm applying for PR from inland via family sponsorship. I thought that I'm exempt from biometrics as I apply inland and my previous biometrics (before I moved here) is still valid.
However, today I received AOR of my PR application together with the letter to request for payment of biometrics fee. Is it a mistake from IRCC, or should I really pay this?
Thank you

Inland applicants are exempt from biometrics.

Hi everyone - Are they going to contact you before SA approval? And do you need to link your account first before a biometrics will be requested? I noticed that there’s no movement from the time we received the AOR last June28 so just checking if it’s normal. Thanks

Hi canuck_in_uk, thank you for the response. Just a follow up query on point 1, once the application has been submitted / initiated, when can I travel out of Canada for extended duration?

You can't. PRs are required to live in Canada throughout the sponsorship process. A few short trips of a few weeks are allowed but anything more risks the app.

My girlfriend is planning to come to Canada as a tourist and I already have a PR since Oct 2018. Can we get married in Canada and then I can apply for her OWP and Sponsorship?

Also, is there a thread that goes into detail about what applications to fill, what proofs to provide, etc?

Yes, you can get married and apply for sponsorship.

Oh great! thanks

and can she stay in Canada for as long as the application is being processed? She has a 10 year tourist visa but at the border they usually stamp it for 3-6 months. Will she have to leave after 3-6 months?

She can apply for a visitor extension and the OWP to stay.
Ah ok. So, the OWP application is filed with the Spousal Sponsorship. correct? And is the visitor visa extension application different than these two? and should we file it along with the OWP and the Spousal Sponsorship application?

Yes, OWP app goes with the inland app.

If she still hasn't gotten the OWP a few weeks before her visitor status expires, she can apply for a visitor extension.
