I floated a theory when I was naive and inexperienced that the more PCCs/travel you had the more 'confidence' it added to your profile. No, IRCC is not looking for international men/women of mystery; they just want you to have a simple profile with as little travel as possible. Of all the speculation on this forum on whether being single/married, having kids, having a certain NOC, etc. gives you a certain advantage, I can empirically conclude that multiple PCCs and an extended travel history will take you over six months.

All of the call center agents are required to be bilingual, and I suppose the easiest place to host such a call center would be Montreal. I've been noting the names of the agents I speak with and 8/9 agents have been Quebecois; one of them had an anglophone name so we switched from French to English simply because it was more comfortable, not because he couldn't speak French well. At least four or five of the agents have wanted to know how I speak French as an Indian...that I would really enjoy traveling in French-speaking parts of Canada...so that helps to break the ice, we get chatting and I don't even need to ask them to look up my notes - they volunteer it themselves!

Oh is that so? Should definitely ask for French-speaking agents if I call someday if they are more friendly as you say.
All I know is that (I think) having both french and english documents in my application has delayed it: There was a huge "french document on file" written in caps in my GCMs notes and my file stayed in Ottawa because of that. People in my current residence country are getting their PPR and I'm stuck in Ottawa. I would have been alright if people in my home country (which I think I'm queued with) were getting their PPR but not a single one had it from Ottawa in a month! I really want to crack the code of IRCC working pattern just to satisfy my own curiosity. In another french forum of express entry, a member said something like: "I see that people who have the least complicated files are getting their PPR but if any file triggers questions, it's delayed." Well that's also what I noticed. Maybe it is because there are new officers recruited?


My criminality also passed shortly after MEP (maybe also the same week) and I had 4 PCCs! Info sharing was also complete ages ago 'cause I gave biometrics. It is my eligibility that was not started long after that (still have no idea if it has started and I'm a week away from 180days).

Oh and if anyone is interested, I found a nice report done in 2012 about a backlog IRCC were having in their applications with the former system: p.7 is quite satisfying to read. whoever reads it will understand. The report's title: CUTTING THE QUEUE: REDUCING CANADA’S IMMIGRATION BACKLOGS AND WAIT TIMES.

Perhaps overanalyzing how IRCC works somehow stretches the process of getting PPR because the universe is getting too much anxiety...LOL

And exactly, normally, being well-traveled should be a good thing and work to your advantage.. But not for IRCC..

I think it's more a combo of your nationality and country of residence. Look at most USA applicants and Nigerians getting their PPR fast and not furious regardless of the complications of their files! I worked with a central government department in the past and the way we organized projects' files was according to regions. I wouldn't be surprised it is the same way in CPC. Then all people whom I talked to and got their PPR fast had a minor or no travel history and NOCs that are straight forward (teaching position for instance). I noticed the status and the family situation had no effect on the processing unless it is complicated, or in case agents want further info about the partner (about his/her work history for instance).

Fascinating to read this. Yes, I agree with your understanding of how IRCC might work. I imagine not much has changed even after years of efforts to streamline workflow and make the organization less bureaucratic, especially after the pivotal introduction of Express Entry in 2015. There's even been a rebranding from CIC to IRCC to wipe the slate clean, but that's had little effect. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose chose.

It's great that you get to travel and see the world, but the friendly folks up at IRCC are actually looking at every trip and tediously matching stamps in passports and collecting information from foreign governments and trying to find suspicious patterns in your travel. Sigh.

Hello Everybody, just wanted to write this to keep a reference for people who might get desperate about their application. I am CEC applicant (jan 2nd 2019) and I just called a cic agent and told me that my app got APPROVED!! I was under review required for my Canadian employment and my score dropped!! I was shocked when i saw this on my notes received 8th of may (ordered 8th april). I asked the cic at that time an agent told me that they think your NOC was wrong. I was confident my noc was right but maybe the job description was vague! I was advised by a well known consultant that my app will be rejected for sure and i need to withdraw my application!! I was seriously devastated!!! I didn't listen to him instead I sent a new employment letter to better clarify my job duties, they received it on may 24th and my application got approved on may 28th!!!! I doubt they even saw the new letter. so now I am waiting for a landing interview in Etiobocke office! I am just writing this to let you all know that consultants are seriously bul**** and if you think you made a mistake go ahead and fix it, don't assume your app will be for sure rejected and don't withdraw it!!! thanks a lot! <3

This is a bit strange becuase my criminality passed very quickly after MEP.
I thought they did this decision solely based on the PCCs we submitted.
Isn't criminality normally done before eligibility?

I believe so yes. Criminality was complete almost immediately, then no change for months.

Whilst this stands up to reason, it's not actually my experience that this is the case. I consider my case to be, not simple. And indeed, there were "questions raised" (Additional document request during the eligibility review).

However, my PPR came less than a week later thereafter.

Obviously, if your case has some very serious questions, your file will enter "review required" to get approval from a secondary more senior officer and that *will* extend processing time.
