Inland Spousal Sponsorship - December 2018

There is no problem to leave the country while in the process! My husband and I are out of the country right now and received the OWP 1 day after we left Canada!
In the OWP they give you a new visitor visa / eTA and the OWP! With your name they will see your authorizations in the system..

Please someone correct if I'm wrong! I spoke with an immigration consultant and she told me that

This is exactly what says on the letter about OWP:

Please note that this letter is a notification only. It is not valid for travel and is not a permit
allowing you to stay in Canada.

Document to travel to Canada or re-enter:
A study or work permit is not a travel document. To allow you to travel to or re-enter Canada
by air only, we have issued you an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) when we issued your
permit extension. Your eTA is linked to the passport that you used to apply for your permit
renewal. You must travel with this same passport. If you get a new passport, you will need to get
a new eTA.

This is exactly what I said. I just copy and past what says on my letter, about CIC issuing a brew eTA with the OWP.

That's crazy how you got it so early considering when they received the app. That means a bunch of us should be getting some updates this week, should be busy on this thread!

I GET TODAY MY OWP just for 8 months, my passport expires in 8 months, maybe was for that???, and my PR its in process what i should do?

Yes. The OWP you receive is either 2 years or the expiry of your passport

I don't know for sure. It would make sense to apply to extend your work permit. It will not affect PR as long as you have technology status even as visitor.

You have to send your application before it expires so you will be implied status

That's crazy! December seemed to be busy for inland applications too. I hope time went by quickly for you all!

They are approving them through online?

Also, do you know how long work permits are issued for through sponsorship?

We just got ours on March 1st!
Ours was approved for two years. Once you get it you still have to wait until you recieve the mail which apparently can't take up to six weeks. It's still very exciting!
