Update:
Received: Dec 19
AOR: not received yet

Since I have seen some fellows got AOR whom applications were received on the same day as mine, so I phoned to IRCC today. Lady who assisted me, after long wait time of 25 minutes, told me that "Your file is in system as "Potential Applicant" but since they are dealing with Dec 14 in-land applications so bear few more days and you will get the update on your status".
Upon my insist to get the estimated days to receive AOR, she said she is not able to quote the estimated days, and neither she has access to such information but rest assured you are in system and will get your AOR within a week or so.

*** Never heard of this "being in system as potential applicant" before ***
any suggestion or comment are welcome regarding this ???? I would appreciate if someone can enlighten me !!! thanks !!

Either

1) call center giving out misinformation as usual

or

2) potential applicant is the terminology they use to refer to apps pre-AOR

Ok this is becoming frustrating. 2 days now i still cant link my application online. I have tried all the know tricks Can cic help me link it if i call in? Im just frustrated

I logged into my spouse's MyCIC Profile (Principal Applicant - PA) and entered the PA information, Name, Bate of Birth, Passport... everything for the PA. Double check if you entered the correct city and number of applicants (PA, Dependants, Sponsor and Co-signer)

If you are the sponsor, you won't be able to link your application. From the CIC site (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1222&top=23):
"Which paper applications can I link to my online account?
(...)
  • Family Sponsorship (excluding applications to become a sponsor)"
Still, according to the CIC website, it can take up to 5 days for you to be able to link your application.

If you are still facing difficulties, double check the "troubleshooting" from CIC:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1226

And, if nothing works, try contacting them.

Good luck

Sorry, @tayrg I answered that before seeing your reply.

I would wait some more days and, if nothing happens, call again.

Good luck and keep us informed!

AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt coming from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), email will confirm when they received your application, something like:

'This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2018/12/19 on behalf of the following member(s):'
