Hi Gaurav,

What you additional document requirement says? I paid RPRF on 31-01-2019 and my additional documents requirement still says " We are reviewing the additional document you provided'. Did you remember when it was changed for you?
Hi Amrit
My status changed next day after I paid rprf on jan 29 to NA.

I don't think updating your employer's address should delay the process - always send IRCC as much proof as possible. But not having paid the RPRF upfront likely already has a bit.
Guy got rprf request and paid on 29 jan. just now I send mail to cic about change in office address. Just want to know will it effect my processing time.

Thank you so much but I paid rprf on jan 29 2018. So that means it will take time and if you can able to help me after that what will be happing in my profile.

CEC Inland applicants often skip IP1, so you may have one fewer ghost update leading up to your PPR.

Hi all!

I am CEC Inland and have been in the ‘we are processing your background check’ stage since January 22nd. They also asked for additional documents at this time. I submitted the Schedule A that was requested the same day and a couple of days later the status changes to Application updated. It went back to Submitted after I checked, obviously.

As we all do I’ve been checking pretty much every day and today my status was ‘updated’ but nothing had changed.

Is this a good sign? Not sure whether to count this as ghost update two or theee given I am CEC Inland and don’t have to provide biometrics.

Would love to know your thoughts!

The fact that you didn't pay your RPRF upfront could mean a few days (maybe even a week or two - it's hard to know) were spent waiting for you to pay before IRCC could start with your eligibility and/or background check, but don't stress about it now. Just recommend people to pay their RPRF upfront going forward - it is fully refundable in the rare event that an application is rejected.

Thank you so much About rprf. Very well explained. One more request IRCC will start my background check and what all will be there, means will they verify job also by costing or calling them. Because I am not going that’s why.

I think you have asked this question 6-7 times in the last week and other people have answered it over and over. Yes, IRCC may call, email and use other ways to investigate your employment history and your employer, as a part of your eligibility. (I believe the employment verification falls under eligibility and not one's background check, but I could be wrong.)

Any Dec AOR, Indian citizens living in the USA who reached IP2?
Whats the latest AOR that has reached IP2?
Does IP1 - IP2 - Ppr transition happen with the same timeline for everyone (as it happens aor to mep... i.e. sequential)?
No IP1-IP2 doesn’t happen with same timeline for everyone and that is one of the biggest reasons you will see a lot of people getting anxious around March/April for December AORs. Some visa offices never bother to update online statuses and hence IP2 and PPR May be on same day. Historically, Ottawa was relatively diligent about this but they have been inconsistent off late. Best way is to order GCMS notes around 100-120 day mark if you haven’t seen any progress by then.

Thanks, @cansha. How would you think this is changing in the new environment where IRCC is trying to retain as much of the processing at CIO-Sydney or one the CPCs and delegate increasingly less of the work to Local Visa Offices?

Hi all, thank you for the amazing feedback and support following this post! I have created a new dedicated thread, which we can share easily. Please consider adding a link in your signature and direct people to it who have questions that we have addressed there in depth.

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/application-stages-what-they-mean-mep-ip1-ip2-ghost-update-version-2019.612656/

Plus, a weekend haiku:
Ghost update or not,
I will enjoy this weekend.
I hope you do, too!

Hi all, I thought we could use a new and updated list of the post-AOR stages that fits our needs today. I am posting this here for your feedback and input before I create a new thread for a wider audience:

IRCC has introduced a number of changes in recent months and it is time to update our old understanding of the post-AOR stages. I am simply building on the amazing contributions of @northern sunshine in developing an explanation of the various stages we can use - informally - to track the progress of our application. Huge thanks in particular to @USProgrammer who has posited the underlying trends and found evidence for them. In short, the traditional transition from IP1 to IP2 to ghost update to PPR still holds but in a modified way due to these changes.

From 31 Dec 2018, it appears everyone except for Inland candidates has to provide their biometrics which means the default stage at which people start out for their Background Check is ‘IP2’ (“We are processing your background check…”), however, this is a ‘False IP2’, meaning a false IP2 that has appeared before its time because the application has not actually progressed to the IP2 stage yet.

So, if you have an AOR of 31 Dec 2018 or later follow the chart below to track your progress. These stages also apply you to if you have an AOR date of up to 30 Dec 2018 and are either a CEC or PNP-Inland candidate or were required to provide your biometrics and/or did not pay your RPRF upfront.

Note: The old transition from NA1 to a single ghost update will very likely only apply to FSW-Outland candidates who have an AOR date of no later than 30 Dec 2018 and who did not need to provide their biometrics and who paid their RPRF upfront.

Candidates will likely see only a series of 'ghost updates' following their MEP; the first such ghost update (which should follow shortly after your MEP) will signify your Real IP1, the second ghost update will signify your Real IP2, and the third will be your ‘Real’ Ghost Update, following which you are likely to receive your PPR.

General:
EE
- Express Entry: Canada's score-based program for economic immigrants
CRS - Comprehensive Ranking System: System for ranking candidates for EE
ITA - Invitation to Apply: an invitation to apply for permanent residence
e-APR - electronic Application for Permanent Residence: the online application for PR after receiving an ITA
RPRF - Right of Permanent Residence Fee: a fee collected as part of your PR application
AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt (of application): email confirming receipt of your application after you submit and pay your fees
ADR - Additional Document Request: IRCC sends a message asking you to provide a specific document to supplement your application.

Post-submission stages:
False IP2:
Usually right from AOR or just after MEP. Background check shows "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.”
MEP - Medicals passed: review of medical results changes from "You do not need a medical exam." to "You have passed the medical exam."
Ghost update - When you log in, the application says it's been "updated" but none of the fields have changed.
Ghost Update #1 or Real IP1 - "In progress" 1: Background check changes to "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check." Usually follows MEP. Some applicants (especially inland and CEC) skip this stage.
NA2 - "Not Applicable" 2: Background check changes to "Not Applicable" again after IP1. Some applicants skip this stage and it is easily missed.
Ghost Update #2 or Real IP2 - "In progress" 2: Background check changes to "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."
NA3 - "Not Applicable" 3: Background check changes to "Not Applicable" again after IP2 (uncommon)
Ghost update #3 or Real Ghost Update - Often considered a sign that PPR is coming soon. Not seen by all applicants.
PPR - Passport request: IRCC sends "Ready for visa" e-mail asking you to submit your documents to your visa office so they can issue your CoPR and entry visa if applicable.
CoPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residence: A document that says you've been approved for permanent residence.

Remember that these are not "official" stages, but they are used frequently throughout the forum to track processing of applications.
The ‘eligibility’ and ‘final decision’ fields in your profile will not change to passed until after you receive your CoPR.

The status of your application won't change from the stage you were at when you received your PPR email until your documents have been received at the visa office and your CoPR is generated, at which point your online application will be updated to "approved."

Inside, it looks like this (for me):

Application status
A final decision has been made. Please see the final decision below.

Application step - Current status
Review of eligibility - Your eligibility has been reviewed. Please see the final decision below.
Review of medical results - You passed the medical exam.
Review of additional documents - We do not need additional documents.
Interview - You do not need an interview. We will send you a message if this changes.
Biometrics - We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.
Background check - Your background check was completed.
Final decision - Your application was approved. Check your messages below for details.
Out of curiosity, did you notice your background check listed as completed before the PPR or did they both happen at roughly the same time?

Hi Gaurav,

What you additional document requirement says? I paid RPRF on 31-01-2019 and my additional documents requirement still says " We are reviewing the additional document you provided'. Did you remember when it was changed for you?
It's been showing "We are reviewing the additional document you provided" since December 4 for me :)
