Anyone from Edmonton, Alberta or anyone, who has information on how to contact a Member of Parliament? If you could provide details what to do exactly and what to expect would be much appreciated. My application has passed the 12 month mark.

I'm from Edmonton; however I have no clue on how to contact an MP. I would benefit from the answer as well
Good luck

enter your postal code. After you click find MP, you will see the name and the photo of your MP. Click on the name, you will get phone number and email to join his office.

The best is to have the sponsor to make the first contact, especially if the sponsor has Canadian citizenship. Then, you cannot ask a Mp to have your application processed faster, at least not directly. You can ask his help to find if there is anything missing in your application or if there is any reason to explain why your application is not processed in the normal 12 months timeframe. You can also mention (if that is the case) that you tried several time to call the call center, but it's very difficult to get a line. @david_gat88 if I remember correctly, you have to deal with CBSA. You could possibly ask the MP if he/she can help in asking IRCC to at least issue the first stage of approval (SA and AIP), as IRCC should already have everything required at this point make a decision on that. This would make a considerable improvement of your situation here, as you could apply for an OWP or at least it could allow you to restore your status in Canada.

There is no guarantee it will help, but it might worth trying.

Thank you so much @sylvain1. Always great help! We'll do that.

Since you mention that IRCC should already have anything to get SA or AIP, do you have an idea why they would not send it out our way? Decision made has been on my wife's ecas for about two months but mine still in Process.

Thank you again @sylvain1

sometimes they really wait for the security checks to issue AIP, which they should not need. They need the security checks to issue DM. So sometimes you see AIP and DM almost together.

Thank you once again! :)
you can also type "cic ip-8" in google. The first link is the CIC manual for spousal sponsorship. If you download the pdf, check at page 53:

13 Initial stage of approval
If the applicant meets the eligibility requirements (i.e., criteria in R124, taking into account the provisions of the spousal policy), the CPC-M may approve the application pending the outcome of admissibility checks (i.e., medical, security and background).

the R124 is that you are in the relationship you indicated. You see, they don't need medical, security and background check to issue it. However, determining that you are in the relationship you indicated is part of the background check... But anyway, you see they can issue AIP even if security checks are still pending.

The manual is very informative and helpful.
