Hi

I received an invitation to apply for my parents. My parents are currently visiting me in Canada and they will be here till sep. The last date to apply is 5th Oct I have two questions:

1. They do not have marriage certificate. Is there any way I can get some document from Indian embassy stating they are husband and wife. It will be difficult to get an affidavit from India while they are here. Any suggestions?

2. I do not have a birth certificate. During my PR application I attached a certificate of birthdate issued by Indian embassy in Singapore. Can I use the same for my parents application. It has my parent's name.

I will appreciate your help

I am in the same boat. My parents' files were transferred back to HK in March AFTER the background check stareted. So far we got requested notarized copy of Hukou (it was not required when applied within Canada), updated addresses and history since they turned 18, not the past 10 years, as well as updated PCC since it was more than 6 months ago that we provided the PCC the last time. It's like they are doing the process all over again in HK. It's being more than 3 months since we submitted all required documents, we now received an invitation to the pre-arrival service, and 2 bulletin emails, status has not changed at all for 8 months since before their files were transferred. I am very disappointed with how they work.

My parents went back to China when CIC asked for an update of travel history. Therefore when we provided the update, my parents were still in China. I wonder if this was the reason their files were transferred back to HK. Did your parents leave after you started the application?

Yes, my mother went back to China last October and came back this June, after she's done her medical in China in May. In June, we got the request for PCC, CV, passport, travel history etc.. Then, we got another request for the copy of her old passport. Later, a request for PCC for US since she travelled there about 15 years ago. A month after we submitted everything, her file got transfer to HK office. I have no idea how this happens. I guess maybe it's because she took her medical exam in China so they assumed that she's in China? Hope we'll hear something from HK office soon. Good luck to you as well.

Perhaps your mom is Chinese?

No, the reason it transferred to HK is because your parents are Chinese.

More invitations to sponsor parents and grandparents going out this week

Ottawa, July 30, 2018—Family reunification is a top immigration priority for the Government of Canada. In order to meet high demand for the parents and grandparents sponsorship program, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will send a second round of invitations this week to additional potential sponsors who completed an Interest to Sponsor form earlier this year.

  • Invitations will be sent to potential sponsors beginning on July 31, 2018.
okey, 15000 is not enough
Hi Yulia,

I wasn't able to authenticate this. Is it really true? I could not find any reference about it on CIC website.

Quick question to anybody may know.

Whats the PPR process if my file is processed Ottawa while my parents living in their own country ?
Do they have to send passport to somewhere to process or could just get processed at boarder (airport) when they fly in ?

hi ,

to submit docs to visa office ottawa we can just upload in gc key or do we have to reply back to same email?

I uploaded medicals on gc key and it says "not submitted to ircc" is it normal or am i missing something?

thanks,
Rash
