I had a similar comment but about Vancouver's transit system being absolutely terrible at their Reddit - triggered lots of comments saying how it was a lot better than anywhere else in North America. Which may be true, but if anything, that says more about North America having bad transit :)

Funny how our opinions can be influenced by what were used to in our native country
Ah, Vancouver transit system: Waiting for buses forever, never knowing when the next one would show up, no snow tires on them, so would be madness whenever it snowed :p But sure love how frequent the skytrains run :)

One thing I was truly surprised by is how outdated payment methods are in Canada - in the places I've stayed so far rent was always collected by cheque, and my utility bills likewise have to be paper-mailed to the City. There's no way to pay for them online. I've never even heard of anyone ever using a cheque before I came to Canada.
Your experience might not universal ;) I lived in Vancouver last year and had the same experience. In terms of banks and paying bills it sure seemed quite outdated compared to Denmark
I don know where are u living mate.. but don poetry such image.. I live in Canada... no paper sign whatsoever... and I am paying rent online...even utilities...so either u r living in super remote place or in some some apartments which are outdated
I find this all hilarious because every time my boyfriend (Canadian native) is in the US, he laments about how behind the times we are because we don't use chip and PIN! He rolls his eyes every time I have to sign a receipt when I use my American cards up there because it's totally pointless.

Lots of people still pay their rent and utilities by check here in the states. I pay my rent by check but my electric bill online. In Canada, my boyfriend has always had the option of either paying his rent by check or by interac e-transfer, which we don't have in the states. I don't know what the bill situation is like because he's been living in places that include utilities in the rent.

Bank security, on the other hand, is pretty behind the times in Canada, as most of their big banks still use relatively antiquated password and security systems. A lot of them put tight limits on the length of your password, didn't allow special characters or weren't case sensitive until only a few years ago. Could definitely use improvement.

This is so true! I remember when I opened my bank account at CIBC (one of Canada's major banks) the banker asked me to input the password to my account: after trying for 4-5 times (each time it gave an error) he asked me what I was inputting - which was something like s4Tv5R@. Apparantly special-characters aren't allowed, only letters and numbers. AFAIK they still don't allow it.

It is beyond me how a BANK, safeguarding billions of dollars, tones down on its security by not allowing complex passwords. Farewell all those tips and advises that tell you to make your password difficult to guess.

In the Netherlands, the bank provides you a reader machine - you input your bank card, type your PIN and you have to scan a color-code on the login screen, after which it gives you a 10-digit code that you have to enter, before you're allowed to touch anything bank-related.

Guys,

I will be getting my reference letters from HR, however the following information is not in the letter. They have sent me an official email stating that they cannot provide them as per their standard practice. I will attach this email in the LOE section with an explanation. What else should I do?

1.Hours of Work (they have mentioned as Permanent in the letter, but no hours)... Can they mention "Full Time" instead of duration ?
2.Reporting Manager... Not required
3.No. of Leave...Not required...
4.Other Benefits & Annual Salary (i will be attaching my bonus & increment letters)... Salary should be mentioned at least...
5.Employee ID (my full name is there in the letter)... Not required
6.Previous Designations (promotion letters will be attached)... IRCC clearly wants you to mention all the designation and job responsibilities held within the company... (as an example)... you may have started as a Sales Executive and may have been subsequently promoted to a Sales Director, they would like to know all those details through out.

Will be attaching the following to support my employment in the employment section,

1. Service letter from HR
2. Email from HR confirming that they are unable to provide above details
3. Letter of appointment, promotion letter and bonus & increment letters
4. Salary Slips

Furthermore I will explain this in LOE and attach the HR email and letters in item 3 above in LOE section.

Would above be sufficient?

My AOR is from June 29 as well. Relax, they will need about 10-20 days to process your medical results (doesn't matter when you did the Medical, as the Panel Physician is not the one doing the assessment). We should expect MEP sometime in the coming two weeks.

Got an update few min back, MEP passed.

Seems I am in IP2 now. BG status " We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information "
That's quite a leap. Are you CEC or reside in USA?

1.Hours of Work (they have mentioned as Permanent in the letter, but no hours)... Can they mention "Full Time" instead of duration ? They will not. The Letter of Appointment has the working hours as 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (Monday to Friday). Is this okey?
2.Reporting Manager... Not required - Noted
3.No. of Leave...Not required...- Noted
4.Other Benefits & Annual Salary (i will be attaching my bonus & increment letters)... Salary should be mentioned at least... - They won't. I am attaching two salary slips for each one year I worked. Will this be sufficient?
5.Employee ID (my full name is there in the letter)... Not required - Noted
6.Previous Designations (promotion letters will be attached)... IRCC clearly wants you to mention all the designation and job responsibilities held within the company... (as an example)... you may have started as a Sales Executive and may have been subsequently promoted to a Sales Director, they would like to know all those details through out.- I will be attaching the official letter given by the company confirming the promotion/s. Will this be sufficient?

Hello People! I am wondering am I in IP2 already? I am a CEC inland. Graduated from a Canadian university and had 1 year work experience in Canada. Didn't travel much other than home country and Canada.

I submitted my application on June 27. Receive AOR right away. Background check at that time was quite long, perhaps "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check." Can't remember exactly.

Then it went to "Not applicable" on July 6.

Medical passed today, July 12. At the same time, BGC says "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information. site:www.canadavisa.com."

According to what I've read, I believe I am now in IP2? I just find it to be very fast and wanna confirm. Thank you!

Hello All,

We received AOR on June 8th . The status changed to Medicals passed on June 29th.
I had a question about my wife's passport. She's the primary in our application. Her Indian passport is set to expire on May 2019. We currently reside in the US now . When should we start her passport renewal process? Should we wait until PPL?
I understand that Indian passports can be renewed 6 months prior to expiration.
