Similar case, I called them yesterday too, they said my eligibility , background and security checks are in progress although my application might not reflect it and Visa office is Ottawa.

I was told by the agent that my eligibility is being reviewed and only after it is cleared my background and security checks will start. It is very confusing when agents are giving different/contradicting information

I just called them they said that my background check, criminality, security are being processed. but in my account it shows that background check hadn't started yet. Not understanding where exactly my application is being processed whether in IP1 or IP2

Oh lord! Why can't they streamline the process!! Half of the things are not reflected in the stupid online account and it is soo difficult to get hold of their agents. I've been trying to get in touch with their agents from 3 days.

What are we supposed to do with an online account if there are no updates there...CIC is bloody irritating

Dont know about that , but I guess then it should not take time to move from IP1 to Ip2.

Also, how did you just speak to them? It's 4 am there.

Oh you mean like that... I have no clue if they are supposed to do that tbh, as an applicant you are paying you due fee and availing their service. So in principle they should provide the feedback.

This is for citizenship application though.

I think I'm done calling them and will wait. In the times I have called, I was told that eligibility looks good followed by still ongoing and all else pending. File is still at Ottawa. That's no different from what I see in the account. Waiting 30 to 40 min for the same info feels foolish now.
I'm wondering if I should order gcms notes or wait longer.

This is for citizenship application though.

I heard that can make your application take longer so wait until nearish the end of 6 months to order the notes ?! Not sure if this is correct but wpuld make sense that they have to stop processing to sort the notes

Not sure about that. I don't believe it has any negative impact. I've heard it might actually get them to move on the application since they'd have to look at the file to compile notes.

I guess you dont know unless you try ! The forum is fab but you can see many different things ! When would you order notes ?

Not sure yet. I think by 20th of this month. If nothing has moved by then, I'll order them. I am going to refrain from calling them though

Good idea. I might do the same. Infact, I was wondering if I should stop scrounging boards and groups. As much as I enjoy seeing people get through it does add a sense of impatience and anxiety which I would rather do without.

I am hoping that by mid August things are done and maybe I will just breathe and wait until then. Without the notes and calls.

I know exactly how you feel ! Its hard to remember that they have gotten through more quickly than normal not that ours is being slow ! Good luck let us know how you get on !
