Hello all - long time lurker, first time poster here. Firstly, thanks to all who have posted here and elsewhere on the forum; it has been incredibly valuable.

My wife (sponsor) got an email this morning saying we're being processed in Mississauga. We applied for outland spousal sponsorship from UK - timeline is below. It seems like it's been pretty quick so far, although I'm fully expecting it to stall somewhere along the way! Best of luck to all...

Application received: 16/3/18
Linked on GCKey: 26/4/18
AOR1: 27/4/18
Medical request: 1/5/18
Sponsor Approval: 3/5/18
Medical attended: 3/5/18
Medical passed (GCKey): 4/5/18
“We are processing your background check” (GCKey): Noticed on 17/5/18
“In Process” (ECAS): Noticed on 17/5/18
Application will be processed in Mississauga (email): 18/5/18

This is a strange one. Usually Mississauga apps don't show up as in process on ecas.

Haha it's probably nothing. Maybe this will be their MO going forward.
More generally, it seems as though there is very little consistency over time, even within a Visa Office. For example, it seems (from looking at older posts and spreadsheets) as though seeing “We are processing your background check” on GCKey used to mean that approval was just a few days away. However, it now looks as though you can be waiting at this stage for months - is that right?

For the most part, yes. But there are a couple people who should have had their bgc start by now. So it's expected that they're going to get bgc, ppr and dm in a flurry like in the past. I'm guessing that because Mississauga is a new visa office, they probably don't have a well defined MO.

You are right, God knows how long the background check will take. Just have to wait!
