When I called CIC to inform about my urgent processing, the agent specifically told me that the offer letter or the contract should specify that you should be a canadian citizen and how being a canadian citizenship will help you in your line of work. I sent email threads from my former boss discussing about my citizenship application and how it will be easier for me to travel and that when I get my citizenship, that I will return to my previous contract but CIC did not classify it as urgent.

My advise is just to wait til you get your citizenship.

Hi there! First of all, congratulations to you on decision made!!

I think I'm in same boat as you. My test was scheduled Feb 22, 2018...Passed with 20/20. No updates from there yet. I too had lots of trips abroad just because I love travelling. I was laid off for few months and so I was backpacking around Europe.

Now, I have a potential job offer where I would get better contract (compensation and vacation) being Canadian citizen compared to my current citizenship. Does this qualify for "urgent processing"? Would recommend I go thru "urgent processing" or just wait? Is there any point even in calling "call center"?

Would love to have your take on this situation.

Cheers!

I am in Milton too my office is Hamilton. You can call the cic call centre and they should be able to tell you where your application is being processed. But most applicants from Halton region are in Hamilton.

Hello everyone,

Here is the final timeline.

Type: Single
Location: Vancouver
App Sent: Oct 16,2017
App Delivered: Oct 20, 2017
AOR: Nov 24,2017
IP: Dec 29, 2017 (ECAS)
FP Request: Jan 11, 2018 (ECAS, letter arrived few days after by mail)
FP Sent: Jan 16, 2018
Test Invite: Feb 14,2018 (Email)
Test Date: March 12,2018 (Passed 20/20, officer advised that application has been approved and oath will take 3-5 months)
DM: March 13,2018 (ECAS)
Oath Invite: April 3, 2018
Oath Date: May 1, 2018

Overall I think Vancouver office processed it pretty quick. One suggestion for everyone is we cant really change the process and we have to be mindful that the offices process not just citizenship but lots of other work that falls under the ministry. tbh I got really impatient and tried to connect the dots why I was asked to provide finger prints but we can only have an educated guess. No one is 100% certain.

If anyone has any specific questions, I will try to answer but overall I think the forum is awesome and I suggest anyone who is new just spend 30-40 mins in the forum and read 10-12 threads you will get lot of your questions answered. Good Luck everyone!!

I will post again after my oath.
