Thanks so much for your valuable and detailed input. It would be a good advise for people to read it before making a decision to travel abroad without valid PR.
in my case, I traveled abroad last year even though that I was under SR and I was issued a PRTD last year and returned to Canada . The only change between my last year application and this year is that I have added 310 days of physical presence in Canada to my application . I have a full time position in a international reputed company and my employment letter and payslips and other supporting documents that I presented shows that I have been physically in Canada since 2013. ( including 2016 and 2017 till April)
I hope they can come to this conclusion ASAP.
Anyways, I put my self in a very unpleasant situation by traveling.

Hello CanCan,

Yes. I am in Canada now. Returned on August 28. My PRTD was issued on August 24 after 128 Days ( 4 months and half). It was a horrific experience. I was planning to stay away of work and Canada maximum 2 months but it took forever. I have provided them with tons of documents. NOA, employment letter, medical records, bank statement, credit card statement, rent agreement, return ticket.

Abu Dhabi office is the worst in the region.
I have applied for PRTD in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and got it in 3 weeks (cause its not sent to Abu Dhabi)
on CIC website, they say the average is 64 days but I know people which too them 3 months to get their PRTD!!

Wow, i was thinking of applying, I called the Abu Dhabi office and they indicated 60 days. Will not be risking it!! I'd rather fly to Europe and apply for PRTD there if there is a country that will process it faster.

I read somewhere on the forum (can't find the post now), one couple travelled to Europe and got it the same day! Not sure if we can do it though.

Did you try to call the VAC? Also, did you save the form in any way (photocopy or a softcopy) in order to recheck it later on. Since you are still in their normal processing times, you shouldn't be too worried. Might as well throw an email to Abu Dhabi Visa office to see if they reply.

Well maybe that’s what they are trying to determine, but we can only speculate. As long as you’re in compliance with the residency obligations, you shouldn’t be worried about it. It’s still within the processing time limits. I was told the waiting time varies from 6 to 12 weeks
