Hey guys! I just thought I'd give a little update!

Today, I got a letter from immigration that says this: "We are pleased to inform you that the processing of your application for permanent residence will be finalized at an interview that is scheduled for [time] on [day next week] 2018."

I think this is good news, so I feel very excited! For anyone trying to get a sense of a timeline, I was a late October 2016 applicant, I cleared eligibility about a week ago (first week of January) and my appointment is set for next week (third week of January.)

They told me to bring my RPRF receipt and two photographs that are formatted in a special way. I'm being asked to go to the Etobicoke immigration center for the interview. This is the landing interview, right?

Congrats. That's the DM Letter + Landing Invitation. It means you are finished. On [time] on [day next week] 2018, you'll land and become a PR.

Photographs: get a wal-mart photographer to give you passport photos (it's what they need). They seem to work well. And yes bring the RPRF receipt to prove you paid it.

Yay! I have to find especially Canadian stuff to do to celebrate now.

I'm excited about the interview, but from what I've read, it's more of a formality than anything.

I do have one question. I have a Canadian bank account using my temporary SIN that came with my work permit. I know I get a new/permanent SIN at the landing interview, but do I have to go to the bank to change my SIN on my account, or does it flip over automatically? Has anyone ever gone through this part of the process before?

You must advise the bank that it changed. The SIN is effectively just a (CRA) tax account number. There is a Service Canada at Etobicoke, so you can change it while you are there.

Landing, is like getting a DL. It really is nothing. Zero climax to it.

I forgot: if you have OHIP, take your COPR to Service Ontario to update your OHIP (make it permanent).

If you don't yet have OHIP, take your OWP + COPR to Service Ontario and apply. They'll probably waive some or all of the waiting period.

Hello,
Can we reschedule our inland interview upfront? I received decision made on both side (interview is not schedule yet) and i am going vacation from 20-Jan-2018 for three weeks. What if i receive interview request before 20-Jan or while i am on vacation outside Canada? How to deal this situation. Please advise

You must wait for a landing appointment before you can reschedule it.

Inlands who have email addresses in, get their landing invites via email. Most offices will respond to emails if you reply. If you don't reschedule it will affect your final decision. If you reschedule, they won't care.

It will all happen at the same time, like it did for us. Just enjoy your everyday life and don't let this process bother you. This is just a matter of time, nothing more, stay positive!
