For all those who sent their applications today oct 11 2017 what mistakes did you make?

I have put the documents in the below order! Yes, Photos first on the package as photos are in a small envelope so I didn't want to lose them.


1. Photos (In an envelope – written my full name and UCI # on the envelope)

2. Application – CIT 002 (signed and dated)

3. Physical presence calculator (signed and dated)

4. Photocopies of valid and expired passports (biographical pages only from both the passports)

5. Copy of confirmation of permanent residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)

6. Copy of Permanent Resident Card (PR Card)

7. Photocopies of proof of English (Diploma certificate)

8. Photocopies of 2 pieces of ID (Drivers license and Passport copy)

9. Receipt of an application fee of $630.00 paid online

That's what i had in mine as well, plus i photo copied all the pages of my passports and highlighted the entry stamps from CBSA

spyfy quoted the actual law in one of the threads yesterday, which was enough to convince me. Perhaps OP should be pointed to that quote (I would not have been convinced without spyfy's having cited it).

Google is a powerful tool. I'm not here to convince wveryone who doesn't want to listen or do any reading of their own. But I will make an effort to correct misinformation. Especially when it's posted multiple times with complete disregard of fact or correction.

I suggest next time (probably no next time) to put payment receipt on the very top. The first thing CIC will do is to find your payment receipt. With no payment receipt, they wont even look at your documents but return it to you directly. I have been told by someone from the government. so always put payment receipt before the checklist. once they see your payment, then they will check completeness.

I noticed that many are submitting multiple IDs, including driver's license, health card. However, when I checked through the check list and instruction guide, the only think needed is one landing document (CoPR/PRC/etc) and one ID (I used PRC).

The fact is, the plain English meaning of the statement, which is repeated on the application and in the instruction guide, means exactly what OP states it means. Without recourse to the actual law, and an understanding that Canadian courts, unlike many other common law jurisdictions, decides most cases on the plain meaning of the law as written, it is prudent and to be expected that applicants will accept the instructions on the application and within the instructions as binding.

The fault is not on the applicant, but on IRCC for their poorly designed instructions.

That's pretty much exactly what I sent in as well...plus a VOS document because (of course) CIC messed up my COPR.

I initially referred him to the residency calculator - which is what the officer will use to determine eligibility. He didn't like it. Again - my focus is ensuring others get accurate information.

Thanks for all your advice and comments guys. I printed my forms 4 times and each time I found an error. But now I think I have it as close to perfect as possible.

One other thing is that I went to get my photos done at London Drugs last week and I even went with the specifications, but the guy there gave me the old size (35mm by 45 mm) instead of 50mm by 70mm. I went back yesterday and they gave me the correct ones free of charge. That was going to be a big mistake for me.

I did go overboard with the additional documents though, but I'm just going to send it as is because I had already photocopied the documents. Here is what I have in my application:

1. Document Checklist
2. Fee payment receipt
3. Completed CIT 0002 form - signed and dated
4. Online Physical Calculator - signed and dated
5. Photocopy of my passport (I included biographic page and stamped pages even though I know they only ask for bio page)
6. Photocopy of my Masters degree and administrative transcript
7. Photocopy of PR card and COPR document
   
8. Photocopy of drivers license and BC services card
9. Two citizenship photos in an envelop with my name, DOB, and UCI on it. I put my name on the back of each photo, and each photo has stamp and date from London Drugs
