I don't think she, or anybody from the government, had said "it will become law by the end of June"
She did on her tweeter account on Sunday

For a clue about how it might go, go to the HoC website and last night's debate about Bill C-6 and read the two and a half hours plus, rambling diatribe of a speech made by Conservative Michelle Rempel, who had the gall to cite major shortcomings during the Harper years as if they were on the Liberal's watch. Everything MP Rempel said about citizenship could have been said in ten minutes, and if specifically about Bill C-6, in perhaps five. She spent the better part of an hour criticizing the Liberal's refugee policies.

Not much to do but wait and see. Warrants noting, however, there seems to be a certain degree of shamelessness underlying the nature and scope of obstructionist tactics being employed these days, which I am afraid may be in part due to some creeping nefarious influence from that nightmare happening to our south.

Can't believe it has already reached senate!!!!!!! That was crazy fast!!!
I thought they needed a few days to get ready!!!! Guys that AWSOME AWSOME NEWS!!!!!!!!

You the one who writes long posts. I like you. I also have a bad feeling about the bill in the senate after what the MP said yesterday. I hope I am wrong.

A week or month earlier? Buddy I personally save 15 months if this becomes law this month! Why should they? For the exact same reasons they had when they introduced C-24. How long did the transition take? 2 weeks? If I'm not mistaking!

Being optimistic is a bonus but talking about being super pessimistic, you're killing it mate!

I am not pessimistic. I am, in fact, every now and then accused of being to optimistic by the other forum members.

C-24 didn't take two weeks. It took a year.

I am not saying that it will take a whole year, but they won't pressure-rush this through just to make people like you and me happy. They will take a reasonable approach in implementing the rules.

Also, time is a continuum. So your 15-month-save doesn't go away if they take some weeks or some months, it would just be a 12 month save instead etc.

Yes it is a mistake. This is a automated process, so once the votes are recorded in the system, it automatically moves it to the next stage. When the admin comes in the morning then they will move it to the right status.

My excitement just died :-(

IMHO it will be same thing..2 days it will be tackled in senate and passed..first sitting all talk nd no action nd second sitting will pass along part lines..i think suspense for me is what would the implementation look like..anything other than an immediate implementation post RA will be a big disappointment for a lot of people..imagine if they say it will be implemented from 2018 am sure lot of folks will cry bloody murder...so yeah the most suspenseful part is not the bill becoming law but what comes after

The amendments passing the HOC in 2 days, is not the only yard stick. The minister (and his ministry) took time to understand the bill, make amendments to the amendments and then presented it to the house. All these weeks should be factored into your calculations.
