Hi,

Two years ago, I was working for an organization through a Robert Half Technology for one year. Now, I contacted Robert Half for a reference letter. The problem is:

The recruiter( whom I knew) does not work there any more. I contacted another recruiter. The person said: since they are only placement agency. He does not know my duties and he does not have the right to write a letter mentioning my duties and responsibilities. He said, my manager(the main organization) should give me that reference letter.

He also asked me to contact Robert Half employment verification department. But those guys provided me something like an excel sheet with all the hours I worked though them. And for sure, that does not work for me.

So, I am confused and little disappointed.

My manager actually gave me a letter with all the duties that I perform at this organization. Would that work for me?

Any help or idea?

If the letter(from Manager) mentions all the other items requested by CIC(see CEC checklist) and you have your total number of hours(from verification dept.), that should be good.

Basically, you need a letter from the agency AND the client(s). The agency is technically your employer and has to provide details on salary/wages, dates of employment, hours worked, etc. But your clients will have to provide the details of the job duties performed, etc.
