Hello,

I am seeking your guidance regarding a unique and time-sensitive immigration situation involving my upcoming H-4 and H-4 EAD extensions, my spouse's H-1B premium petition (all expiring in mid-September), and my pending Canadian citizenship. Plan is to file these today or tomorrow.

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident currently living and working in the US for a Canadian employer. My citizenship oath is scheduled for the third week of August (updated in the tracker today). Because I have worked very hard for this milestone, I would prefer not to miss the ceremony, though I have the option to request a reschedule. However, I am unsure when to reschedule it for, given the unpredictability of USCIS processing times.

To help me determine the best course of action, I would greatly appreciate your advice on the following questions:

Travel & Status: Can I travel to Canada while my H-4 and H-4 EAD extensions are pending and return as a Canadian citizen? What are the immigration and legal implications of doing so?

Application Impact: What will happen to my pending H-4 and H-4 EAD applications if I travel? Will they be considered abandoned?

Approval Scenarios: If my H-4 is approved before I travel, does that improve my situation? Conversely, what happens if it is still pending at the time of travel?
What is the situation with EAD?

Employment Continuity: Since I work for a Canadian employer from the US, I understand I cannot legally work in the US past mid-September if my EAD is not approved. So, traveling to Canada is a right option so there would not be any gap in employment?

Biometrics: Are all H-4 applicants currently being required to complete biometrics?

Rescheduling Strategy: Should I attempt to reschedule my citizenship oath, and if so, to what timeframe given our mid-September deadlines?

What are the current processing timelines looking like? Is anyone getting approvals within a month or so?

Thank you so much for your time, expertise, and assistance. I truly appreciate your help in navigating this complex situation. Please let me know my options.

Thank you!
