Hi everyone,

I’m planning to travel to Indonesia from Vancouver, Canada, and I hold a Canadian Refugee Travel Document (RTD) with Canadian Permanent Resident status.

I understand that a visa is required, but I would like to hear from anyone who has recently gone through the application process at the Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver.

How was the process? What documents were required? How long did the visa take to be issued? Were there any additional requirements or challenges?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you!

Hi! I hope you can find someone who experienced. I was not able to find one. I searched a lot. You can apply for visa but you need a guarantor. Mostly visa agents in Indonesia doing this.
Your travel document has to be at least one year valid.
You need to show 2,000 dollars minimum balance last 3 months in your bank account.

Hi,

Thank you for the information and for sharing what you found during your research.

I have contacted the Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver and I'm currently waiting for their response. Once I receive an official answer regarding the visa requirements and application process for Canadian Refugee Travel Document holders, I will post an update here so others can benefit as well.

Hopefully this thread will help anyone planning to travel to Indonesia with a Canadian RTD in the future.

Thanks again for your help!

Thank you! I also contacted them but consulates can’t issue a visa to the refugee travel documents. When your guarantor apply for visa for you, you will get evisa. I hope everything goes well. Inform us pls.

I contacted the Indonesian Consulate in Vancouver and received an official response. They confirmed that holders of a Canadian Refugee Travel Document must obtain a visa before travelling to Indonesia, and the visa application must be initiated by a sponsor in Indonesia through the Directorate General of Immigration.

The Consulate cannot process the visa application directly and cannot act as a sponsor.

Below is their response:

"Please be advised that holders of a Canadian Refugee Travel Document are required to obtain a visa prior to travelling to Indonesia.

Unfortunately, visa applications for holders of Refugee Travel Documents cannot be submitted through the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Vancouver. The visa application must be initiated by a sponsor in Indonesia through the Directorate General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia.

Please note that the Consulate General is unable to act as a sponsor and cannot recommend or endorse any particular sponsor, travel agent, visa consultant, or third-party service provider. You will need to make your own arrangements with a sponsor or agent in Indonesia should you wish to proceed with a visa application.
