BLS appointment letter (hard copy or soft copy to show at door)
Online application form printout
Surrender Certificate
Surrendered i.e., last held Indian passport (front & back pages)
Citizenship certificate
Canadian passport
Professional Details - I used employment confirmation letter which contained my start date with the employer and job title
eCOPR
Voter/Ration card Declaration
Address proof
Spouse's current passport - my application was on basis of my Indian origin only, but I provided this as my current marital status is not updated on my surrendered Indian passport, plus I got married in Canada
Registered marriage certificate - for same reason as above

Hi. How do you get a voter/ration card? I've registered on the Elections Canada website but dont have the card. Will I still be able to apply for OCI?

Wow - wonderful question, maybe canada will issue ration card in another 100 years, do you need OCI immediately or can you wait a little

This is Voter ID/Ration Card issued by Government in India i.e. Indian Authorities. You need a Declaration form signed with the application

March 5th to March 10th

Thank you, very helpful. I see the oci card was printed on Feb 23 and waiting for the mission/FRRO to receive it (and then have them ship it to my address). I'm assuming the "Mission/FRRO" in this case refers to BLS receiving the card, any idea how long it usually takes for them to receive it?

my form filled in premium service at BLS Toronto office recently. (27/02/2026)
30. Occupation chosen "others" from drop down. and then typed UNEMPLOYED
31. Employer's Address NA
32. Employer's contact number 000000

They do not want me to choose my profession (eg: doctor) from the drop down and then type unemployed and not applicable and contact number 00000. That was one of the errors in the application filled by me..

Does anyone know how long it’s currently taking to receive the OCI after this update? Is anyone else on a similar timeline?

My oci was dispatched from the printing cell on Feb 23 and no updates since. It could either be a case of batch mailing from wherever it is coming to BLS, or like some other cases here we may get the card without seeing further updates on the site until after the fact. It shouldn't be a cause for worry unless you're planning to travel very soon... We will get the card sooner or later. I would wait until their sla has passed before starting to make calls otherwise we'll be told to wait anyway.

oh okay, thank you for sharing this. I'm travelling to India in the first week of April that's why I'm worrying about. I should get my OCI card before that otherwise i have to postpone my ticket. Lets hope for the best. Please keep posted about your status it will be helpful.

So just as I had suspected. Yesterday afternoon I got an sms about a Purolator package from bls. It arrived home today. BLS too got updated yesterday stating ready for collection/courier, until then it showed a status of processing. I have the card in hand now and the oci website has no updates yet. Either the oci website will be updated in a few days or won't ever get updated, both of which are moot at this point though.

Sure, and probably. I would also believe that the consulate does batch processing, meaning, they probably print and dispatch the oci cards in batches. Assume 10 days plus or minus few more to get yours.
