Finally received the OCI in hand after some technical issues with Purolator.

Timeline
Walk-in submission at BLS Surrey 30 Aug 2025
Under processing at consulate 4 Sept
Granted 3 Nov 2025
Purolator received the package on 14 Nov, and was scheduled to deliver at a shared rental house on 17 Nov. I requested “hold for pickup” instead of deliver at house.

Any Address change including generating new label for “hold for pickup” is not allowed by BLS and the package was in limbo. It was not even known where it was. We were worried it was lost. Finally could pickup the package today.

P.S: if for a minor child who can’t give you authorization for pickup, carry birth certificate and passport with you to purolator for pickup.

I applied for my OCI through BLS Edmonton. The status on the OCI portal shows “Granted”, but on the BLS tracking site it still says “Under Process at Consulate.”

Can anyone share how long it usually takes after “Granted” status to actually receive the OCI card?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Did you receive the OCI Card (if yes, date pls)

Hello everyone,
Since many of you have recently applied successfully submitted at BLS, I had a few questions as I plan to submit OCI for the family at Mississauga:

  • Online form:
    • Previous passport number – should we keep BLANK since no previous Canadian passport or do we need to mention Canceled Indian passport number?
    • National identification number – Do we type NONE or NA or keep BLANK?
    • Name change in the past – Does surname changed after marriage count? Even if documents after marriage, including the Canceled Indian passport and spouse’s Indian passport last page have new last name?
  • What to write when self-attesting documents? Just Signature and Date or some text like ‘Certified true copy’?
  • For a Grade 2 kid, 7 year old - do we select YES for Are you a student? If so, what documents are needed?
  • Is a 7-year old minor (not used to signing docs) expected to Sign or is thumbprint acceptable?
  • Who attests kids documents? One parent sign or do both parents sign

This looks to be the latest checklist: https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/docs/1744922311Checklist for OCI.pdf
And I assume all docs are supposed to be sequenced according to the checklist when presenting it to the Gods at BLS?

OCI form filled for postal via purolator. For photos, i have uploaded and printed the form. Where do i paste the photos now on the form ? On top of the existing photo - what about signatures on the photo/below the picture ? BLS never picks up the phone and wait times are too long on three attempts today am. Also frustrated that since money is already paid, perhaps when they pick up the phone, they say redirecting and then suddenly call ends (2 times in last few days when connected).
Also, for a family of four, sending all originals to Ottawa, will that be safe ?

edit: i could get a call and they mentioned just to add it in the application which i have done now. over to the lords at bls now as this forum says :)

We kept it blank at previous passport number and National Identification number.
Name change due to marriage does not count.
We wrote "This is a true copy of the original" before attesting the document copies. which is mentioned in OCI miscellaneous service checklist. (https://www.blsindia-canada.com/CanadaVisaCCT/Toronto-OCI-Miscellaneous-Checklist.pdf )
for minor we used enrolment letter from school.
We also got child to attest and then both parents attested on photocopies of documents for children as we did not take them with us to BLS office.
Child can write his name in the space given and at the end parents need to sign the application.
Documents were sequenced according to the checklist. Still at the counter, they will make minor adjustments in the order.
Under OCI checklist for Ottawa, there are pages explaining how to do it. Just to check. https://hciottawa.gov.in/pdf/menu/Checklist and Information Booklet for OCI_jun2022.pdf

We used below links too so that there will be less chance of missing any documents.

In the OCI portal - my application remained at " The application is not acknowledged at the Mission/ FRRO yet" for a month after I submitted to BLS(and BLS tracker kept saying - "Processing at consulate general") and yesterday it changed to "UNDER-PROCESS" in ociservices.gov.in. From this point - how much longer is it going to take for the OCI booklet to be ready for pick up from BLS?
Any advise would be immensely appreciated.

From previous posts, it appears approximately 36 days for Toronto submissions if everything goes smoothly.

I think so. ~20 days for grant of OCI card. ~5 days to reach Toronto consulate. 6 more days to reach home. (~31 days)
