Hello,

I need advise - I am a PR holder in Canada. I am planning to marry someone who was once a refugee claimant in canada but he had to withdraw due to change in his conditions back in his country. My partner and I are now planning to get married after being in a relationship for 2 years. My question is would there be an issue if i file him under spousal visa sponsorship as he was a refugee claimant in 2022 ( Applied in Feb - Withdrawn in Oct and left canada).

He had to withdraw his claim due to economic conditions. Can someone please enlighten me on the process ?

Hi,

I recently immigrated Canada in February, although I've been in Canada for many years. Currently, I'm pursuing a part-time finance master's degree while also working part-time as a teller at one of the big 5 banks. Presently, my income is limited, but I will be graduating next April and securing a full-time position at the bank.

My husband is a freshman at UofT and has approximately 126k in a GIC. In light of these circumstances, could we highlight that my husband is financially self-sufficient, and I will soon have a more substantial income?

During the Covid period (2020-2022), I resided in China and did not generate any income in Canada, thus unable to provide tax documentation. I'm exploring the possibility of using bank statements to illustrate my ability to cover expenses in Canada. Could bank statements serve as proof, at least for my personal expenses, considering my husband holds a GIC?

Thank you for the kind help!

Briefly, yes. Note there is no specific income or savings amount required to sponsor a spouse, but they'll basically check that you can be sefl-sufficient. A letter of explanation with some of the above would likely be enough.

Note: were you married before you immigrated? Or was he declared as non-accompanying?

Thank you for clarifying! I actually met him 8 months after I immigrated, and that's when we got married.

Why is my spousal open work visa taking long before approval , this is the fourth month, no reply yet .
Is your spouse in Canada on a work permit or study permit? Or is your spouse a Canadian citizen or PR who is sponsoring you for PR?

My spouse is on a study permit

my spouse is on a study permit
Then you are posting in the wrong section of the forum. You need to post to the Foreign Workers section. A 4+ month wait is not unusual.

We are planning on doing a court marriage and then doing a large wedding after Visa is granted.

Few of our friends that applied mentioned that the Visa folks know what religious practices our in Indian weddings and expect to see those in supplemented images. some friends did “mock weddings” as well

our story is a little different than typical arranged marriages where couple meet once if at all or talk on phone and then get married.
We met in two different countries over the last year, lived for almost 30 days together and now are getting married. Is that not sufficient proof of an authentic relationship? Pics from those countries, pics of engagement and reception, text messages, and contacts of those that attended court marriage and or the engagement ceremony?

I would make sure what you do is not limited to just a court marriage but that you have a small reception afterwards, even if this is just going out to a nice restaurant with the small group of family members / friends who attended the court marriage. You'll want to make sure you have family members at the court marriage (normally this would be your parents, sibling).

Hi Guys,

I have a question and appreciate if someone could answer it.

PA ( inland, currently on TRV ) is at a stage where all the checks are green on the tracker as of last week but still there's no copr number shown and GCKEY has no updates after medicals. We are planning to go for a month long vacation in mid / end of February. I am hopeful that we'll get the process completed by then but incase it is delayed would the PA require PRTD to come back ? Just a bit confused if PA can travel outside Canada for this long and probably at the end of the whole process.
