OCI process

Hello folks,

I am in the process of applying OCI for myself, my wife and my daughter(minor). I've already visited BLS Brampton during inquiry time but they were not very helpful, instead kept telling me to use the website for more information. Hence I'm looking for some guidance from here especially from people who have submitted OCI via postal application.


- Do I need a date stamp on the photos?
- Can I Just mail all 3 applications in a Purolator courier to BLS Brampton location? or should I use the pickup/drop-off from BLS which seems to be charging $90+ per application?

Stuck for how long? If its a week or more unusual. Did you try to contact BLS?

about a week now..it said processed on Oct 06 and the other 2 applications with the same timeline were ready for pick-up in 4-5 days after that

No

Yes, I sent directly via Purolator and I haven't faced any issues. You'll have to use drop-off from BLS if you want your OCI delivered to your home.

So, its stuck in "processed" state not "Counter Delivery to BLS". That would mean its still with the consulate -- there have been some special cases reported here where it took a week or two, I do not know the circumstances. I would call up BLS and ask to ensure its not a glitch in their system and then contact the consulate.

Hi all,
I applied for OCI at Surrey BLS on October 13th. Up until today BLS tracking showed "under process" and "no records found" on OCI website. Today the BLS tracker shows " Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping" and OCI website shows "under process". I am not very sure about BLS tracking info showing Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping. How come it is already stamped in 4 days and being returned to BLS when it is still under process.

Should we always do it online? Can we submit in person to save a few days?

You can but if you do not have an appointment lines are very long these days at least in Brampton and Toronto. Scan this thread for posts in last week or so to read others recent experience with walk-in.

can some one help . I am not married to my partner ( who is canadian) , but i am applying oci for my child(minor). is this marriage document is mandatory? if not is there any option? my postal is scheduled tomorrow morning. How long does it take to get reply from sampark " cgi toronto website

There is not a whole lot of known cases here with parents in common-law relationship. There have been some posts in the past where people asked about this but nobody seems to have followed up with their experiences. You could try using the enquiry service at BLS office (walk-in after 3pm) and talk to a BLS agent in person. They are not always very knowledgeable or helpful, but that is the first thing to try. Its unlikely to get a response from the sampark portal within a day. Call the consulate instead. Though its hard to get through, the consulate does respond to phone calls.

@eas2lv are there instances of applications processed being stuck at 'counter delivery ...' status..I have had one out of 3 applications in that status for over 10 days now.

No, it says 'counter delivery to Bls'. Other 2 applications with the same timeline say 'ready for pick-up'

Yesterday, the status changed from under-process to processing at the consulate and today it's 'Counter delivery at BLS...'. Should I be worried? I tried tracking my application at the Govt of India OCI tracker but it shows 'No results found'. I have my flight ticket booked for the 15th of Nov. Any information about what the current processing time is for OCI applications in Vancouver jurisdiction?

did your application move forward? Mine is still in the stage where it has been received by BLS and they have not sent it to CGI for processing..

Same. I had three applications. For the received message for my two kids. Nothing for my husband.

Very unlikely that you will get OCI by 15-Nov. Few others have mentioned a quick "Counter delivery at BLS". It could be because of one of the 3 reasons, unless someone confirms:
1. It probably got processed at CGI level (does your spouse already has OCI, is it for minor?)
2. There is some bug introduced in system recently
3. Unfortunately they found some issue in primary processing at CGI & thus returned it back to BLS.

Let's wait & watch.
