if you can advise the country or municipality he was in this can help others assist you ,a person cannot simply disappear from the grid if he passes away they will always have records somehow ,my father passed away 40 years ago and i was able to retrieve a document from the municipality and was provided a death certificate in sequence .

Hi everyone, I submitted my parents' sponsorship application in November of 2021 and haven't heard back since. Is this normal to wait for acknowledgment of receipt (AOR) for over 11 months? Please tell me I am not alone (only if it is true lol). Is there a way to follow up on the application? I can't use any of the online tools since my application has not been received yet.

You can ask for GCMS notes for it. I had submitted my parents application in Oct 2021 and hadnt heard till July. I requested for GCMS notes. Soon after that we received AOR. Not sure if there is any correlation or if it was coincidental but it is worth a shot.
We submitted in Dec 2021 and have had communication from ircc twice regarding some missing items. The correspondence showed that the file number had an X next to it which assumingly is a temporary number and not an AOR.
I know this isint similar to your case but i believe based on this we are still waiting for AOR without the X in file number.
I submitted my parent's application on 12th Nov 2021, there was complete silence till I contacted IRCC via WebForm (in August 2022) informing them that my parents are now in Canada. Since then, the file is moving very fast.

I was able to link up my file using GC key but no movement since then.
Still awaiting to get AOR or any progress on the file.

November 17, 2022 - Biometric and Medical w/ NBI request (completed on Nov 29, 2022, in Manila)
IRCC asked for a clearer copy of my father's birth certificate. The deadline for submission of the additional documents needed is Dec 17, 2022 however, I asked IRCC for a 30 days extension. Awaiting a reply from the officer.

My son , the sponsor, received the approved undertaking and csq from MIFI thru postal, dated Nov 22 2022, Send thru FEDX the all relevant documents (approved undertaking and CSQ) to me, PA. What is the next step to wait. The local VO has been inform as per MIFI

I had same issue to link my application. I googled and fixed the information by putting 4 applicants in the application (2 parents + My wife and myself)
Yes you should. It's not normal. By this time you would be able to get AOR for sure.
