Hii,

The announcement made by immigration minister regarding family reunification that applicant no longer need to stay in canada
And spouse of principal applicant who are outside canada can apply for open work permit..
Is this announcement applies to our case??
No, it doesn't.

It applies to cases where people have applied for PR through economic immigration streams like PNP and Express Entry.

Mainly your preparations and pending tasks are personal and getting prepared. If you're joining your spouse already in Canada, some of that will be easier.

Off the top of head:
-Covid related preps based on whether you are vaccinated and/or need to quarantine;
-ArriveCan app which will deal with some of the covid stuff and pre-clear you;
-you may get tested at airport, and from personal experience, if arriving at Pearson in Toronto, it can save time to have a Switch Health account already done. (Dont' know about other airports)
-If you are shipping things separately, you'll need to declare at customs 'goods to follow.'

Main things on arrival: look at requirements provincially for getting health care, in most provinces you'll need something that shows your address in Canada. Eg if spouse can add you to lease, insurance, or bank account/uitility account, that will do it in Ontario.

SIN card - you can do that on arrival if Service Canada desk is open, or by internet/mail/in person later.

Mostly that's it.

Taking effect this summer, the policy changes announced today include:
  • Applicants will no longer be required to remain in Canada while their application is being processed.
  • Applicants who apply for an open work permit while waiting for their permanent residence application to be finalized will be able to get work permits valid until the end of 2024. This will ensure that all permanent residence applications will be finalized before applicants will need to apply to extend their temporary status again.
  • To support family reunification, immediate family members who are outside Canada and who were included in a principal applicant’s permanent residence application will be eligible for their own open work permit.

I will definitely apply this coming June for OWP, I am the PA. We applied Outland Conjugal Sponsorship
Just to let u know, it's not for outland sponsorship, open work permit is only for the principal applicant pr application who resides in canada and they have included there spouse in application and spouse are outside canada,

However in outland Principal applicant is outside canada so Open work permit is not for outland sponsorship unless u r in canada

Kindly read the IRCC update release April 2022 and please let me know if I misunderstood the statement mentioned by Honorable Fraser

Yes I know , it says dependent spouse of principal applicant , that means principal applicant should be in canda and the spouse outside canada is considered dependent ,
This is for the person who is in canada and have filed for permanent residence application and have mentioned there spouse in there application, for there spouse its open work permit

But in outland sponsorship application u r outside canada and u r principal applicant, u r not considered dependent spouse,

, i m just trying to explain you ,

Hi,

I've filed Sponsorship Inland application for my spouse on 4 Jan 2022 online portal and not received AOR as of now. Generally how long it will take to receive AOR?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Shiva

It can take anywhere from 2 months to 12 to get an AOR. Not every application is the same. If you have not received anything by the 6-8 month mark then It might be worth looking into but as you only applied in Jan, this timeline is not out of the ordinary
