I thought it used to be:

30% - 4 months
50% - 6 months
80% - 10 months

But I could certainly be mistaken...

SaugaBoss they recently changed the site to say 11 months. I think we know from this site and the application timelines for it's Buffalo members that the average is definitely not 11 months. If it's true then most people on this site are below average which I would find very strange. They just dont want anyone bugging them before then so I think they post the max time.

Sauga -

I'm guessing they are not provided with the averages. So I think they are probably just giving you the "80% of applications completed by" time line that's published on the CIC site.

It would be interesting to know what the true average processing time for an application is. I'm sure someone at the CIC knows. However I'm also fairly confident they're never going to share that info with the rest of us. :)

Based on the 30%/50%/80% break-down that used to be published on the CIC site, I think the average processing time is likely more than six months. But that's just my guess.

Just an added note...

If any of you are sending letters/emails to MPs or the CIC - make sure you are using "average" in the right context. "Average processing time" is equal to: the total processing time of all applications divided by the number of applications. So if a small number of applications (let's say 3-5%) are taking year and a half or even more to process - this could drag the average up more than we expect. I absolutely agree that the average is not 11 months - however it could certainly be more than 6. I know this may sound picky - but I think it's important to get the terminology right just in case you hit someone who is anal about math. :) I am not anal. But my husband is and he has trained me well. :)

kelkel -

The medical bit seems to be very individual. This update never showed up for my husband. I know some see nothing and that some see the update on ECAS. I don't know about letters. Hope this helps.

Sauga,

I think you need a job offer and they your company must apply for an LMO. Assuming the LMO is successful, you must then apply for a work permit. As part of the LMO process, the company must post the job on job boards to try to attract Canadian applicants and prove they must hire you because no suitable Canadian applicants are available. I understand that the LMO process typically takes several months (2-3?) to complete.

Sauga, I tried the work permit route before applying as conjugal, didn't really work. Never heard back from HRSDC or whatever the abbreviation is.. Hopefully you're paperwork will be finalized soon!

AllisonVSC, I posted a note on facebook, almost like a blog, explaining my situation, what the letters would need look like. I used some of your info and some bits and pieces from the O2 manual. I actually got some great feedback. What happened was nobody was notified that they were tagged, so it was like my post never existed to them. Anyways, I've got about 8 or 9 letters from friends and a few coming from family on both mine and my partners side.

We both are setting aside our Friday to put everything we've collected together. I have got copies of our benefits (dental, vision, extended coverage, etc.) and highlighted the requirements that I do not meet as a reason why I have not been added yet. I've made a list and a reason to all of the things like joint accounts, and insurances that we've planned to add me but not until I can become a resident and licensed driver. Also we collected more photos, ticket stubs, our tenative 5 year plan of action together and what are plans are for children. We've also included a bunch more as in a free write style about our reasons for not wanting to get married, and used examples of people in our family that have been together for numerous (10 plus) years unmarried ,and that we would like to do the same. I've also done up my own personal letter that my partner is going to do as well. There are a few more things that we are going to cover on Friday.

i sent my RPRF fees three weeks ago and haven't heard anything, and of course e-cas is as unreliable as always. i know thanksgiving has probably set them back a few weeks too ::) apparently it takes like 5 weeks for them to process the fees have been paid, but anyways, when they sent me a letter (oct 27th) they said that they had received proof of my medical but no results yet. i was thinking of faxing ottawa and asking them to fax everything over. i got my medical done in july so they should definitely have the results by now. urgh. can anyone point me where to e-mail or fax to? i'm hoping i can go see my family for christmas and take care of landing all at once!!

saugaboss - do you qualify for a NAFTA work permit? seems like for nafta work permits they are LMO exempted so all you need is a job offer. here's the CIC link

e-CAS updated to "Decision Made" today!! No PPR in my partner's email inbox, though.

Of course, now I'm paranoid, because my partner's email address has changed since we started this process. We've updated buffalo with the new email address when he came up to Canada with me, and his mailing address has been updated in the system. He's also emailed the Buffalo visa office several times looking for more information, and had replies, so I'm just really hoping that they didn't send the PPR email to his old address....

Hopefully we'll get a letter in the mail very soon (we haven't had any real electronic communication from Buffalo, just physical letters) and we'll be able to celebrate!!
