Spousal sponsorship

Hi everyone! I am very hopeful that one of the senior/champion members here can answer my question:

I have been in Canada for about 3 years of which the last (almost) 2 yrs have been on WP - initially a PGWP and then a closed WP. In this past little while, I met my now-spouse and we are going through the spousal sponsorship process. Due to some issues I had to quit my job recently and I am now looking for another job. I do have some prospects on the horizon and hopefully will be able to get the wp etc again. But in the meanwhile, my question is - does the fact that my working is now in limbo have any impact on the appl? My spouse is gainfully employed and has consistently been so for the past many years. I have consulted with some legal experts and they said that a few weeks/months of me not working (or even the fact that I quit) will have no bearing on the appl. But I just wanted to be very sure.

Any advice/opinions will be much appreciated! Thank you very much in anticipation....

They are right! It will have NO bearing on your application. Nice alias Ms. Everdeen . . . Have you finished reading all three books in the trilogy?

thanks truesmile :) yes, I pretty much flew through them and eagerly awaiting the next movie :) good eye lol...

so, again - the reason for my question was that the wp was for a job that I am now no longer in; does that affect the maintenance of my status while the pr is in process?? I'm trying to find something else asap but not sure.... will the wp still hold valid through my efforts??

Hi I badly need your thoughts

I left Canada last September 30, 2012 with an inland spousal application and open work permit in process (which was received at Vegreville, Alberta last June 13,2012) because of family emergency. Also, I am holding a multiple entry visitor visa that is valid until July 2013. Now I want to re-enter Canada this November to reunite with my spouse at the same time wait for the results of my application.

Can I still be granted re-entry? Will I have problems at the Airport Immigration? Do I need a return ticket upon entering Canada or just a proof that I have enough funds to go home if my application gets denied? Please help.

And I just checked my ecas and it says We received your application for permanent residence on June 13, 2012.

Thanks, I really need help

Katniss - the WP permit is valid until it expires. However another WP I'm familiar with has conditions attached to it, so the person it belongs to cannot just go and work for anyone, nor in any location. Is your application 'inland' or 'outland'? If it is inland, you cannot leave Canada without putting your application at risk, BUT you can apply for an 'open WP' upon Sponsorship Approval. If it is 'outland', you may leave Canada but as you're probably aware, a WP does NOT guarantee re-entry into Canada. Which applies to you?

You should be fine re-entering Canada from an immigration standpoint.

However there's a chance the airline might not let you board without a return ticket. I would check with the airline you are scheduled to fly with to see what their policies are.

Hi truesmile - thanks again! yes, the wp did have conditions attached to it - which is why I will have to go through the LMO etc to get a new one.

Mine is outland....

thanks so much!

Yes,that's pretty normal. Mexico City posts that 80% of applications are completed in 12 months. For the 12 months ending June 30, 2012, the open data project says:

6 months to process 20%
6 months to process 30%
8 months to process 50%
10 months to process 70%
12 months to process 80%

So if they transferred your file in August, you'd expect to hear something next year. April would be the 50% point.

Hopefully you're in a province where you get health care as long as you have a pending application.

Good luck!

Hello, our VO requested per email to send the new mailing adress of my husband, in order to send us by mail request for re-medical and new PC. That was almost 3 weeks ago and the letter still didn/t arrive. What worries me is the following: I sent the new mailing adress by email, just wrote it down. Did they expect some proof of the address?

I've posted this short story previously, and I hate to say it but you might see if Air Canada is competitive. I know a couple who had trouble with their airline (not Canadian based) and selected only to save a few dollars, so they accepted a ticket to get somewhere much closer to home (ahem, Canada) only to find out somehow from the Air Canada counter after that that they would have let them board the plane.

I have to take my medical exam on the November 6.It seems so far away because I received my approval letter in October 12 and the CIC asked for medical exam. Its going to take a while before the CIC receive that medical exam, they might receive it around December.I hate when the application have to stop for that long :(.

I will take the exam in Ottawa,it will cost 180$, with 3 passport photos and I have to bring all my immigration papers. It will take 3-4 weeks for the result, that's a long way to wait.:( hopefully I think everything will be fine
