I am a canadian citizen and married to an indian husband. i am currently living in KSA. I need to sponsor my husband and my in laws. Can i sponsor my in laws directly or do i need to get my hubby the immigration first then he can sponsor them? also, we have a family dog, how can i get him there to canada from india (obviously when we plan to move to canada)?

your husband has to sponsor his parent and use you as a co-signer if he doesn't meet LICO on his own

the process takes 5+ years

You'll have to sponsor your husband first. Once he lands and becomes a Canadian permanent resident, he can sponsor his parents. Note that the parent sponsorship process takes 5+ years (for India, processing times are around 80 months).

If they need to be with you, perhaps you should stay with them....?

dats not for u to decide or suggest!!

i mean parents get older in 7 yrs. a person has to wait 7 long years so that they can b together. that doesn't sound fair.

Parental sponsorship IS NOT a priority so as pinklady suggested maybe living with them is an option you should pursue as the Government of Canada deem those reunion not a priority hence the long wait time

Unfortunately there's no way to reduce the processing time (if there was, I'm sure everyone would be doing it). You should also be aware that to qualify as a sponsor, your husband must be living in Canada when the application to sponsor is submitted and must continue living in Canada while the application is being processed. Unfortunately this means that submitting the sponsorship application and then returning home to live with them while the application is being processed isn't possible (although short visits are fine).

I've been checking the wait times for "parents and grandparents" over the last year or so. I keep on seeing that applications received on Sept 11, 2007 are being processed. Is my memory faulty, or has this date remained the same for over a year?

This would mean that no sponsorship applications for parents and grandparent have been processed in over a year. Low priority is one thing, stopping completely is another.

Anyone else notice this?
