    Proof of Wedding documents

I haven't posted here for years, hope my comments are helpful. I took "wedding proof" not as a request to prove that a wedding actually happened, but as a way to demonstrate that this was a real relationship and not a marriage solely for the purpose of immigration. I pasted a bunch of wedding...

In the email I got it said: "Your visa(s) will be ready within 5/five working days from the date your passport(s) reaches the Embassy." We delivered the passport in person on a Friday, received a phone call the following Tuesday saying it was ready, and it was delivered by courier on...

TR Visa while PR Application submitted

A few people I know have been granted TRV's in similar situations. The common things they did was to wait until sponsorship approval before applying for the TRV. They also limited their visit to Canada to about 3 weeks. In your letter you could mention the status of the PR application, and be...

    Paying Fees Where and How?

    1. Pay online with your Dutch credit card. Print out two copies of the receipt: one for your records, and attach the other to your application. 2. Don't worry about the "option C". Write a simple note explaining you have been out of the country and do not have one. In lieu of the option C...

    dependent child or not?

You are a naturalized Canadian citizen, so your child will be a Canadian citizen whether born in or out of the country. Your child will not have to be sponsored. I am also a naturalized citizen and was in a similar situation with one of my children. She was born outside of Canada. I just had to...

    working outside of Canada

Keep in mind that this is based on residency, not where you work. So the issue really is whether or not you will be able to demonstrate that you are a Canadian resident. How much time are you out of the country? Do you spend the majority of your time in Canada? Do you maintain a house or...

    working outside of Canada

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor your spouse while living or working outside of Canada. Typically, you will have to provide evidence that once your spouse is granted a PR visa, you will both be living in Canada. If you are a Permanent Resident, you must be a resident of Canada to...

First Tax Return - New Immigrant (landed in Nov 2014)

I agree that it may often be of benefit for new immigrants to file a tax return when they do not owe taxes. However this is a choice that can be made, not a requirement.

First Tax Return - New Immigrant (landed in Nov 2014)

This isn't correct. The requirement to file tax returns is based on taxes owing, not residency. See the following: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/tpcs/ncm-tx/flng-blgtns/menu-eng.html

    landing issue 2015

You will go through the landing/immigration process at the first place you arrive in Canada. It is no problem to do this in Toronto, then continue to travel to Calgary. This is exactly what we did when my wife came to Canada. My suggestion for travel would be to get the best priced tickets you...

As a first step, check to see if there is anything on ECAS about the PR card. Hopefully you will see something like: application received (same date as landing), date in process, and "complete".

    Ecas update uncertainty

This is normal and it is good. You should receive an email or letter telling you whether or not they have decided to issue a visa. Odds are that it is a positive result because it was processed quickly. Depending on where the sponsored person is living and what passport they carry, you may...

My husband (sponsor) hasn't filed taxes in 10 years. Is this a big problem?

I hope your new accountant can get some good answers. When it comes to GST, they do some crazy things: actually making up tax bills and demanding you pay. Been through that before. The solution was getting my books straight and filing on time. Good Luck!
