Wow great news, only expecting mine feb/march. January won't hurt. But still need to do my medicals :(. Haven't received the request yet

I didnt wait for a request for anything. Not sure if thats the proper way to do it but I sent my application all complete except for the FBI report since those take a really long time to get back. Once I recieved it in the mail I just sent it to CIC right away with a letter addressing the situation and file number. Not sure if you can do that for medicals though...

I just checked the new processing times, it's confusing!

With the new processing times you get sponsorship approval in 10 days!

My understanding is that it doesn't depend from the visa office anymore?? That's so weird. Maybe they are trying to make it equal for everyone....

I suggest that we don't panic and try to be positive :) we can't do anything to change this anyway.

Hi all
Does QCS add to the processing time? For instance 2 identical applications submitted the same day, will the application for the quebec residents take longer than the one that not from quebec?

Is the online services accurate?

I received my SA in November by email but our status hasn't changed!!! No DM, or any status change even after receiving my SA approval by email. My wife hasn't even heard anything from the CIC! Getting a bit worried.

Me(Canadian)
We received your application to sponsor Jennifer Jane Gaertner on September 10, 2015.
We started processing your application on October 27, 2015.

Wife (US applicant)
We received your application for permanent residence on September 10, 2015.
We started processing your application on November 19, 2015.

Hey ja7toronto,

No need to worry :) for most of us is exactly the same. We received sponsorship approval Nov 4 and on ecas is still showing still in process for sponsor and sponsored person. It doesn't even show that a decision was made for SA.
Apparently not all CIC officers update ecas. But as you got the SA don't worry. From your timeline you can see that the papers where forwarded to the appropriate visa office Nov 19th 'We started processing your application on November 19, 2015.'

So to answer your question the online service is not always accurate.

Good luck :)

Hi all,
Couple questions
1) how many of us received "In process" for PR?
2) What does "In process" actually means? Is it how VO tell us that the file has reached (in other words Application received at VO) or are they actually working on it. My wife got application received in ecase when the file went to CPC-M and VO never gave AOR2 and added "in pricess" so now we are confused.

Most of us, I think, have that "In process" status, and sadly it just means that our application is received by VO, or same as AOR2
((((

I'm glad to hear most of us have reached the "In Process" stage on the website, and that some people have reached "Decision Made"! That's really encouraging. Fingers crossed that more of us will get good news soon.

Lets hope that chages comes in the next months as Mtr. Mccallum Sayd yesterday in the
interview,

Spousal sponsorship delays 'unacceptable'

The minister said the Liberals are committed to reducing wait times, not just for those sponsoring parents and grandparents, but also for those sponsoring spouses and common-law partners, children, and caregivers.

"That's a huge item on our agenda, which we will be addressing in the coming months," McCallum said.

Canadians who want to sponsor their spouses have also grown increasingly frustrated with long processing times.

In December 2014, amid complaints of growing delays, then–Immigration Minister Chris Alexander launched a one-year pilot project intended to issue open work permits more quickly to the spouses of Canadians already living in the country but waiting for permanent residency.

According to the Immigration Department's website, the current wait time for sponsoring a spouse or common-law partner is over two years if they live in Canada and upwards of 17 months for those living outside the country.

"Over the years, there have not been enough resources devoted to the spouses," McCallum said.

"I think that's unacceptable and that is one of the things we are determined to address."

The Liberals have budgeted an additional $25 million to reduce application processing times in 2016-17, followed by an additional $50 million a year for the next three years
