Here it comes...a long awaited update in FSW which is now rephrased as FSWC....

If I assess my profile than it would be as follows;

Age - previously awarded 10 points ..now 12 :)
English Language - previously I gained 12 points :-[ (R5, W6.5, L6, S7.. cumulative 6 band) ...may be it will now change to 20 points..(seniors please help me to calculate) Also if some ine can put some light on CLB/NCLC 7 abilities and minimum requirements per ability
Work experience - previously 21 points now as per new rule 15 points :-[
Education - B. Pharm (4 years) previously awarded 20 points ...as per new rule it might change to 22 points based on credential assessment report ???
Spouse language ability - 5 points (would have to get her registered for the closest exam date
Arranged employment - Nopes :p

My NOC is Industrial pharmacist (3131)..Being optimistic the new calculation gives me 74 points ;D weeewwwww dont know what actual will be...

However following few things need to be clarified and I would request all seniors, experienced fellow to please give their best feedback on this new update, (please note all below statements are just my own queries and devoid of any official reference);
NOC list is not updated, whether CIC will no longer give it any importance or it will pop up when the quota re-opens i.e. Jan 2013?
Credential assessment is a bit tricky...Is it categorized based on nature of occupation or in other words an individuals work experience?
For e.g Case No. 1: If a B.Pharm candidate is working as a community pharmacist/hospital pharmacist he/she might not have to get their credentials evaluated as they are working in a regulated occupation (where a professional body has been designated by CIC to conduct such assessments like PEBC etc.).
Case No. 2: If a B.Pharm is working in a pharmaceutical company as Industrial pharmacist, he/she must have to get the credentials assessed themselves before sending the application (as the occupation doesnt require licensing to practice pharmacy.

As we move on i am sure lot of people will come up with their reservations and interpetations as well.

Please keep this discussion alive to better harness ourselves for yet another opportunity to be a successfully applicant coming year.

regards:

I looked at the proposed changes and checked against OP6. Look at the picture.
How did you come up with all 7?

Sajeels, need your suggestion since your NOC is 3131-Industrial Pharmacist

My Wife has done her Msc in Analytical Chemistry and was working for a Pharma company
for 1 year with the following responsibilities..
Position held: Executive analyst
 Sampling of Pharma Raw materials, in process and finished products as per SOP.
 Analysis of Raw materials, in-process samples and finished products and preparing Analytical test reports.

Will she be eligible to apply under NOC-3131 ?(although NOC 2112 outlines all of her duties).
Under the Duties for NOC 3131 the only responsibility that matches her work is "Quality control of
new products to meet the required standards during production" which is under the Industrial Pharmacist
category. She has worked in this field for exactly 1 year after which she took a 1 year sabbatical and is
now working in a totally unrelated field.

Thanks in advance.

Neither of those test systems changed.
Why in new OP6 CLB/NCLC<=> IELTS chart would change?
What change is the CIC awards the points for it. That is all. Not the tests.

Its compulsory that the current duties must match the noc requirements... please see if your spouse have her duties in accordance with following duties mentioned under industrial pharmacist noc 3131...

Industrial pharmacists perform some or all of the following duties:
Participate in research for the development of new drugs
Formulate new drug products developed by medical researchers
Test new drug products for stability and to determine absorption and elimination patterns
Co-ordinate clinical investigations of new drugs
Control the quality of drug products during production to ensure that they meet standards of potency, purity, uniformity, stability and safety
Develop information materials concerning the uses, properties and risks of particular drugs
Evaluate labelling, packaging and advertising of drug products
Promote pharmaceutical products to health professionals.
Employment requirements

A bachelor of science degree in pharmacy is required.
Pharmacists also require practical training under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Licensure is required in all provinces and territories for community and hospital pharmacists.

Otherwise seems difficult as she even doesn't have b.Pharm degree....

Regards

Sajeel

Please go through noc list in detail and find the best one

I think this is a very important move for CIC and the FSW class.

Personally I wish they would take this one step further and insist on a certain level of English or French for all the applicants, not just the principal applicant. But insisting on a minimum language proficiency is a good start.
