Hi,

I was on a PGWP (Post Graduate Work Permit) which got expired this May 2023, I applied for an extension for work permit, OBWP (Open Bridge Work Permit) in January which was the same time I applied for Express Entry under Canadian Experience Class.

3 weeks ago I received a letter which declined my extension for work permit and required me to restore my status as a visitor, hence not able to work in Canada.

I have then left Canada and now currently in Mauritius (Home Country).

My CRS score is 493 and have not been invited yet since January.

Would anyone know why?

It doesn't make sense that you haven't received ITA if you've been in the pool since January with a score of 493. Have you checked that your profile is valid and is eligible for both FSW and CEC? Have you had a score of 493 since January or only recently?

In my Express Entry profile:

You are a candidate. We will send you a message if you are invited to apply.

Latest update:
Minimum entry criteria - August 15, 2023:You meet the minimum entry criteria.

I always had the CRS score of 493 since March when I updated my secondary language by taking a French exam.

What happened on August 15? It looks like you met the minimum criteria as of that date.

I just updated my work experience again today and updated my profile. I added my work experience when I was working part time as a student.

Did you apply for BOWP after creating an EE profile? A bit confusing because you said you applied for EE but have not yet received an invitation.

If you submitted a BOWP application without an AOR from a PR application, then you are rightly refused.

Yes I applied for BOWP after creating the EE profile. I submitted my profile on January 24, 2023 which was the same period I applied for the BOWP.

What I am confused is, why am I not getting the ITA since January?

You didn't qualify for a BOWP since you didn't have AOR.

I don't know why you haven't received ITA. You may want to have an immigration lawyer or consultant look at your profile. Sounds like there must be something wrong on your end.

I met with a consultant 4 weeks ago in Vancouver who looked at my profile, even he was surprised why I am not invited yet.

We were going to restore my status as Visitor and I decided to leave Canada. He advised me to redo a French exam in the hope I get more points.

I know there will be a draw happening tomorrow, 16th August. In case I am not invited again, would you think it's best to withdraw the application and create a new one?

Yes, I would withdraw and recreate your profile.

As a matter a fact I would withdraw that application immediately and create a new one. So far nothing has really changed in your profile to warrant getting an ITA on Aug 16th, but 2 more days won't hurt.

I have withdrawn my application and re created a new one with a different profile.

My CRS is 455 in my new profile instead of 493 as I believe I did a mistake in my NOC code previously.

My concern is that I just gained 1 year CEC in June and my PGWP expired in May 2023. Regardless I applied for an OBWP in January 2023 which allowed me to legally work in Canada until June 08, 2023 or until a decision is made. I received a refusal letter on July 10, 2023 which denied my work permit extension.

In conclusion, I have 1 year CEC as from 4th June 2022 - 24th July 2023. The reason I quit on the 24th July was because I was not aware I should stop work when I got the letter on July 10, 2023.

At this moment I am outside of Canada and in the Express Entry pool with CRS 455.

What is your advice to be sure this won't be any issue when I get an ITA in the future?

Why do you think your score is 493. You may not have one year of experience. Your work experience isn’t until July 24 as that would be work without a work permit. You were allowed to work legally until June 8. Because it is refused, IRCC may not count your work as Canadian experience from the expiry of your PGWP in May.
