When sending in birth certificates, marriage certificate, and passport copies with our application, do they need to be notarized copies? Or just regular photocopies are ok??
Any Certificate that is not in English or French then you need translated and Notarized Copy along with regular Photocopy of Original.cillyx5 said:When sending in birth certificates, marriage certificate, and passport copies with our application, do they need to be notarized copies? What nationality is the applicant? I ask as there are some applicants that are required to send only ORIGINAL certificates and not copies, such as Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate.cillyx5 said:When sending in birth certificates, marriage certificate, and passport copies with our application, do they need to be notarized copies? I agree, better be sure.Christoph100 said:What nationality is the applicant? I ask as there are some applicants that are required to send only ORIGINAL certificates and not copies, such as Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate.
Please check country specific instructions to be sure what the requirements are.
As other have said normally copies are sufficient however it depends on the applicants nationality.

My wife is from the Philippines and we required many ORIGINAL documents/certificates. We also needed many of our documents that were translated to English from Thai to be authenticated. Once again check your own needs to be sure you get things right. Anything you do that is not correct can cause delays in your application.DanSlh said:I agree, better be sure.
Using myself as example: I'm from Brazil. Cic don't ask for the originals, but they ask for notarized copies and certified translations of everything.
Take Chistoph100's advice and check your country specific guide.
