An update on Bill 13

TDSB Message Regarding Bill 13

Bill 13 – Accepting Schools Act

On June 5, 2012, the
Accepting Schools Act passed third and final reading in the Ontario Legislature. The Act requires all school boards to take preventative measures against bullying, issue tougher consequences for bullying, and support students who want to promote understanding and respect for all.

The recent passing of this legislation will strengthen the policies and procedures that are in place in our Board to support schools and classrooms across the system. Boards are expected to make changes to some of their policies and procedures for September 1, 2012 working toward full implementation by February 1, 2013.

As of
September 1, 2013 the duties that our Principals have are as follows:

To investigate any incident reported under section s. 300.2.
To notify parents/guardians of students who engaged in behavior for which the student could be suspended or expelled and which resulted in harm to another student.
To invite all parents of students involved in an incident that resulted in harm to discuss the supports that will be provided to their children.
To provide supports for students who want to establish and lead activities or organizations that promote a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Require all organizations that use school property to follow standards consistent with the
Provincial Code of Conduct

As of
February 1, 2013 more significant changes to our policies and procedures will be required.
Over the coming months there will be opportunities for staff training and notification to students and parents.

New definition of bullying
Changes to section 310(1) of the Education Act which now include certain circumstances related to bullying and to activities that are motivated by bias, prejudice or hate.
Amending board multi‐year plans to include goals for positive school climate and bullying prevention

Bill 13 has a number of legislative requirements that cannot be completed until the Ministry of
Education provides policy direction through updating Policy/Program Memoranda 144 and 145.

When this update is received the Board will put the following in place:

Principal's duty to communicate with teachers who reported an incident for which suspension and expulsion must be considered.
Reporting by professionals such as psychologists and social workers.
Conducting school climate surveys of students, staff and parents every 2 years.
Support for students, awareness raising for parents.
Professional Learning programs for all staff.

All of us have a part to play in making and keeping schools safe. By working together, we can provide learning environments that are caring, safe, accepting, respectful and inclusive, where students can acquire the knowledge, skills and values they need to become responsible members of their communities.

Of course, it is possible and easy if you hire a reliable buyer's real estate agent. First get to know which area in Toronto you want to live. Afterwards, look up mls.ca website and you would find the house listings on sale in that neighbourhood. You can contact the selling real estate agent yourself or hire a buyer real estate agent to view the house, make offers and counter offers. For more info, you can read this website:

Hi D.Osman,

1. All post and links are having the valuable information
2. You are landing as PR, if you need only Travel insurance check with travel agent in your country they can help you. If you are asking Health Insurance for first 3 month for Ontario, you may check after landing. In my opinion if you don't have any health issue you don't have to be worry much.
3. From which country or city you are travelling? Check local travel agent. Fair is depending on airlines rout. If you are coming from south Asia or Middle East check British airways, Ethad airways or emirates airways.
4. Check short term accommodation list on , Reply #493 and hotel guide link : http://www.canadianhotelguide.com/ca/Ontario-hotels/Toronto-hotels.html
Following is the list of reasonable short stay:

5. Bank account with RBC is good and will be help full
6. Every where the house rent is according to the people power to buying, demands & supply, overpopulation and basic wages. Of course it is highly but your earning will be also accordingly
7. No any condition and or limit
8. It is possible as mentioned by steaky

Hope that helps,

Hi Rawlin,

1. Drop from course is not a good option. Why have to waste 2 years effort?
2. Good in India not in Canada, check on following links the available jobs and wages in both positions.
http://www.workingincanada.gc.ca/home-eng.do
http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/intro-eng.aspx

3. She need to apply to the licencing authority after evaluation & assessment of her education she will be given option to appear in CRNE (Canadian Registered Nurse Exam) each province's nurse registration details are on this links : http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/becoming-a-registered-nurse-rn-or-licensed-practical-nurse-lpn-in-canada-t85454.135.html
4. Yes she can continue her studies in Canada. I'm not sure if she can be admit in same year (mean 3rd year) depend on nursing school if they have same curriculum for 1st year and 2nd year and accept her to have admission in 3rd year class. She can also get viewed some semester if they accept her diploma study. You may check the following link search for province where you want to stay, select the university and search nursing faculty department information, call or write to them if she can attend from 3rd year.

Dear All,

Me and my family are planning to be in Toronto within the next 2 months and thus at this stage, it's very important for us to know from you as to:

Q). How did you managed your Cargo / Luggage when you travelled/landed for the first time in Canada.

Specially for the people who travelled from Middle East, did you guys booked any cargo as well, apart from your luggage. If yes, then what's your advice on that.
Would you like to refer any good Cargo movers to us. Newspaper are filled with these adverts, but you don't wanna risk your life belongings with some newbie in the market. So pls do let me know if you know of someone credible as movers.

Thanks in advance and kind regards,
New Comer to Canada
