Moscow Application Processing Office

Great news indeed! But 8 months is still too long! Add the 2 months for sponsorship and sending the application to their office as well and that's an easy 10 months... (( I want wife here NOW! I want 5-6 months total! Hahaha I'm sure we all do.

Well the Moscow office replied today to my e-mail request for a update on our application process (sent to them on Oct 20th) they did not reply to me but rather replied by removing me as the "To" and put my wifes e-mail in instead, that we used on our application.
Here is the text, I left their signature on so that anyone else wishing to mail would have the address.


“Please be advised that in order to proceed with your application we will invite you for a selection interview.
The exact date has not been specified yet.
We will advise you accordingly as soon as the date set up.

So I sound like she will have an interview. Now I guess we should decide whether to send in an update to our case hoping it will satisfy anything they may want to ask about or just wait and bring it to the interview.

I have already made a update with 8 months of cell phone bills, a write up of our family vacation to the Black Sea with 24 pictures, letters, cards and post cards send to each other and by family, prof of continuing financial support, communication, etc..

Today I received my Russian Visa (Happy Dance) to go visit my wife and stepson next week. Looking forward to seeing her, we will be spending time in both Moscow and St. Petersburg this time. Kind of fun timing as the last two episodes of “The Amazing Race” they were in St. Petersburg.

So during the trip we will add this trip to our application update document.

FINALLY you get some kind of response, 20+ days is a long time to wait. But this is good news as she will most likely get visa then and there...With the summer vacation and your new recent visit, you're a shoe in for sure...

I would say she'll be in Canada by Christmas for sure ))

In St Petersburg we ended up at the Liverpool pub a few times. Loved that place. Beatles cover bands every night.

I sent an email to Moscow about a week after you, so hopefully in the next week or so I will get a reply and find out where we are in the process. I was approved 8 weeks ago for sponsorship, and I have yet to receive AOR letter Moscow. So I don't know if they have our paperwork, are working on it, or are back logged and even started it yet.

Yes Edmman, I am 5 weeks since sponsor approval and patiently waiting for embassy response to you because I think we won't hear anything just like you also. It's either they are too busy to update online and send letter or they haven't even opened yet because they are too busy. Hopefully not the latter...

looking at the stats from the moscow office, moscow starts working on a file received from mississauga after about 3 weeks after your sponsorship approval and you get the letter in onother 3 weeks

so from the time you submit you application to mississauga and the time you receive aor from moscow you are looking at 75-85 days
thats looking at 4 people that went through the moscow office

Right, Agreed Dmitri, but edmman is at about 95 days now, he'll probably hear something any day now, but that is more than anyone I have seen...

No need to scare you edmman, I would also wright the embassy also to request info.

i wish we could pay extra and have mississagua ship it using overnight express or something
they probably use regular parcel-air which takes about 2-3 weeks

I am quite sure they use some kind of inner embassy courier service rather than just use what us the common folk use. I would think they have Embassy to Embassy business moving fairly fast on a daily bases and just put things in the same courier pack as say banks do. Let’s face it if they can spend $900 tax payer dollars on a hammer, I am sure they are not licking stamps and sending things adrift in regular mail… Just my thoughts.

Files and applications are sent by Diplomatic courier. It is not every day.

who is responsible? mississauga must photocopy all our stuff just incase,but then thats too much photocopying

Thanks Dmitri for your explanation of the timing of the AOR letter process. While I maybe a little outside of the usual time window, I will not worry. That can be easily explained by workload in Moscow (I am sure they are busy!!). So I will relax a little and not worry so much! I will post as soon as I get the AOR or a reply to my email inquiry. I know shawngt2 is watching my case closely and I want to give him and other that come after me a good idea of the times involved.

So i guess i got approved
Question. Does it mean my approval letter will be dated nov 15 or approval and date sent to outside VO are 2 diff dates
