LadyHawk and Tallen, thank you very much for your replies, very much appreciated! My wife is in Moscow, and she is not registered at this forum (she is not much into forums in general). We are approximately 1.5 months behind you in the queue. I am crossing my fingers for you to get a visa ASAP!

LadyHawk, thanks a lot for referring me to rusforum.ca! Lots of interesting information about the process, timelines and interviews.

Hi Calvados

We are done but I still check here to help as I can...or at least give best wishes. Good luck to you too.

We didn't have an official timeline in the letter. We were always told to check the website for typical timelines.

My wife didn't get any indication of the process until she was actually called and told she got the visa.

Everything else actually was updated on Ecas. I think it is only updated on Tuesday though...so don't drive yourself crazy checking everyday. (I am going by memory...maybe it wasn't Tuesday but still...dont go crazy checking everyday.)

We did get the indication that medicals were received in ecas.

And when she found out...she found out by a call.

Thanks a lot, @frolic! I don't check e-CAS each day, I subscribed to Matthew's e-CAS tracker. Matthew has about a thousand cases tracked at each given time, and he mentioned several times in forums, that e-CAS may be updated any day of the week, although for me it was usually Tuesdays. It's good to know that information about medicals at least sometimes appears on e-CAS and that they can call, not just snail mail.

Has any of you got a letter from Moscow stating they have begun processing? I hear that it's possible not to receive anything also.

Cheers

Well 1st, My E-CAS said Decision made about 5-6 days before I received my Approval of Sponsorship, so that was a bit stressful.. It could of just said you were approved lol rather than just that message and the typical do not call us for x days.

Our AOR was dated 06/29/2010 and the envelope was postmarked 07/14/2010, I received it in the mail on 07/19/2010. However from the day they issues the AOR it showed in E-CAS as it still does now 121 :( days later and 175 days in total “We started processing your application on June 29, 2010” I wonder if they send the mail using a inter embasy courier system, then it's mailed from Canada. (It is on standard Russia Size paper so It appears it was printed in Russia and not just faxed to canada then mailed)

It's good when you get your letter to run your Immigration File Number on E-CAS and check your wife's address and e-mail address for accuracy. As using your Receipt Number only shows your address.

Did you sign up to the E-CAS Tracker already? We still both check manually.. Just hoping..

Ok, so one month after your sponsor approval you got AOR. Understood. Would my client ID number from sponsor approval and my details still give me the application status or is it completely different login once at visa office abroad?

Thanks Tallen

Any number you use will give you application status, typically people use there Receipt number since this is the first number you get if you pay online. I just checked and all my numbers work, Client ID and Receipt ID #R… show my information, File #B.. Shows my wife’s information, good to check and make sure everything is accurate on both records, however they both will give the same status updates.

Ok, Excellent.. So now I know I can expect update on ecas before recieving letter (since it is mailed from Moscow). As I mentioned previously, some people don't hear anything until PPR too.

Cheers

@shwangt2 - sorry, I meant that Moscow office opened package from Mississauga or whatever on 16 of August and sent me AOR that day. I wanted to write snail mail but instead typed in "e-mail" :)

Some Good new my wife seen today, I thought I would pass on;

They have updated Average Processing times; Moscow Office has went from 9 months, to 8 months! This is good news as it was fairly depressing the last update Moscow processing times went up.

"Last update: November 3, 2010;"
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

"The times are based on how long it took to process 80 percent of all cases between October 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010"
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

So Let us hope this brings us all a little more hope.
